I just realized there are quite a few very talented Italian-American guitarists. Now that I think about it, a lot of them are in the 'shred' category.

Steve Vai

John Frusciante

John Petrucci

Michael Romeo

Joe Satriani

Al Pitrelli

Michael Angelo Batio

Al Di Meola

Chris Impellitteri

Lacuna Coil is an Italian band. Not necessarily Italian-American I don't think, but I saw em' at Ozzfest last week and they rocked pretty hard.

The guitarists weren't any sort of virtuosos as the main draw of the band I think is their singer, but good nonetheless.

Vito was one of the best.

I don't know if he's Italian, but I used to have a tape of a guy named Alex Masi.

From what I remember, he was pretty good.

Frank Marino? OOps that would be Canada

And there was Danny Cedrone who was the recorded guitarist on "Rock Around the Clock" he was Italian. Just to go back to the beginning.

I think Italians have a long history with guitars in general and especially here in the US.
