Members ArpeggiateTHIS
How is it possible to ignore looks when confront with such a piece of profound beauty (the JEM, obviously)? You will, however, come across as a bit of a Vai fanboy. That's okay though, because who cares what people think as long as you like it. (Oh, and I'm looking at the new 505 version, that maple neck is tasty AND you get an original edge.)
Members calclown
how can you consider a jem and ignore looks and price?
Members GreatDane
i voted 'suhr'. if you can get one with rear routing and lose that guard, then even better!
Members crashclc
Well I already have a high-end RG, so I'd take the Suhr just for a taste of something different. They're both great guitars though.
Members Ferdinandstrat
Suhr Modern. Played a Jem, not Impressed.
Members pvwolfgang5150
I say the Suhr. Jem's don't impress me to much.

Members Kellanium
Ibanez. I'm not spiffy enough to own a Suhr.
Members King Loudness
I've played a few JEM's, and I'm not really a fan. Suhr all the way.
Members ricer
Honestly, I just can't see how you can put Ibanez Jems in the same calibre as Suhrs. I'd get a suhr no question.
Members soundcreation
This is just based on looks so totally superficial but the Ibanez. I can't stand those suhr overly flamed laminated tops. God awful.
Members lonerstoenr
Those Suhr's are among the most versatile, well-rounded awesome-sounding pieces of machinery in existence IME.
Members metallica_00
Suhr. Those ones pictured aren't moderns though.
Members paulojcduarte
Never played a Suhr, but as I told you in the other thread I love my Jem. From the reviews I read you'll get perfect craftsmanship in either one. If you have a chance play them both try them. Don't forget the 7v and the 77v have different wood and pups, so are voiced differently.
Members BydoEmpire
A friend of mine had a MM Petrucci and a JEM. He played a bunch of Suhrs and said they blew his guitars away - he sold is Petrucci and is considering selling the JEM because, in his words "when I get the Suhr, I'd never play the other guitars." I like his JEM a lot, so I'm curious if the Suhr is really *that* much better. Now, of course that's just his opinion, but I'm looking forward to going back to Andy's Guitars with him to try them out for myself. Here's the Suhr I'm really GASing for... my dream guitar (sorry, can't find a direct link for the pic): http://andysguitars.com/shopping/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=15_26&products_id=1048
Members Yngtchie Blacksteen
Suhr. Those ones pictured aren't moderns though.Indeed. Here's the real thing: Would I pick one of these over a JEM? You bet!
Members Dogsinotpalc
Suhr with a non-locking vibrato and locking tuners...Jems aren't available in any other vibrato flavor than Floyd and I'm no longer interested in dealing them...for the last 15+ years that is. Members Kelly
Suhr. I once had an Ibanez. The neck broke, and I couldn't even contact them for a replacement. John Suhr, on the other hand, has answered my personal questions even though I don't own one of his guitars. If had had the dough I would, though. Guess the next step is to start including prices in the equation. Can you get a Modern for $2500? Members The Rossness
As far as quality goes, suhr's are pretty hard to beat. They're all handmade where the JEM just a regular expensive ibanez. Their pups are also fantastic!

Can you confirm they are handmade?
