My friend bought a brand-new Ibanez SAS32EXFM the other day. It cost under $500. Prestige neck, flamed maple top, abalone binding, neck binding, cosmo black hardware. At that price I expected it to be Korean, but was surprised to find that it was MIC. The guitar is flawless, and compares favorably to my '93 MIJ RG. Super-low action, no buzz, immaculate frets. Using this as an example, it appears that Chinese guitars are poised to overtake the Korea mid-range models.
