Members MarkBastable
It's seriously about as good as a song gets. 90% of the complaints about it is that it's been played too much or that they stole three chords from another song. When you say perfect rock song, this is not what comes to my mind, but I guess it is rock and it is perfect. I'll second the nomination. I think that a great rock song has to have great (though not necessarily smart) words. The problem with Stairway as a contender is the absolutely cringemaking lyrics. "...it's just a spring clean for the May Queen..." Need I go on? There's a strong case for Whole Lotta Love though.

Members noisebloom
Im sorry,, you read the thread title wrong. It's BEST rock song, not worst one. Well, it might actually be the "most perfect" rock song of all time, according to the title . . . most perfectly vile.

Members notjonahbutnoah
Kinda late at 7 pages, but I think that Ac/DC's Riff raff is a perfect song. It's really similar to Zep's Rock and Roll, except I thinks it's a lot better. Better hook, more interesting verses, livelier guitars.. it just trumps it. Members JRicoC
Rock-n-Roll, My Sharona, Johnny B. Goode are all worthy choices. I'd also like to throw out a song that has produced great renditions by Eddie Cochrane, The Who, Blue Cheer and Joan Jett: Summertime Blues. That being said, I don't know if there are any songs more perfect (more perfect?) than The Band's The Weight...
Members genesis3
AC/DC has a buncha candidates, but fer sheer kick ass anthem-ness....it's gotta be Thunderstruck, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RukUetw0hAM&ob=av2e

I think someone who'd never heard rock music would, in the middle of the song, think WTF.

Members foppy
For me, it's not in doubt. Stooges, "Search and Destroy" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDNzQ3CXspU It's got the best screaming, the best power, the coolest noise. Any other rock song begin with a better line? "I'm a street walking cheetah with a heart full of napalm" Oh hell, here's the whole thing: I'm a street walking cheetah with a heart full of napalmI'm a runaway son of the nuclear A-bombI am a world's forgotten boyThe one who searches and destroysHoney, gotta help me pleaseSomebody gotta save my soulBaby, detonate for me Look out honey, 'cause I'm using technologyAin't got time to make no apologySoul radiation in the dead of nightLove in the middle of a fire fightHoney, gotta strike me blindSomebody gotta save my soulBaby, penetrate my mind And I'm the world's forgotten boyThe one who's searchin', searchin' to destroyAnd honey, I'm the world's forgotten boyThe one who's searchin', searchin' to destroy Forgotten boy, forgotten boyForgotten boy said hey forgotten boy
