Moderators Ratae Corieltauvorum Posted June 20, 2012 Moderators Share Posted June 20, 2012 ....album you couldn't live without.....and the key word here is ONE, 1, uno, un, single, alone......and why? For me it's Atom Heart Mother, because it has everything I ever want in music, and even in a lysergic free world it can transport me to places that don't exist geographically Whoever thought a cow's arse could encase such beauty
Members Jkater
One album... hum.. The ones that get me going with fastest gratification are the ones I'd get tired of also the fastest. Trying to pick one, I'm thinking of P/F's dark side of the moon.
Members awd83
no question, GNR's AFD. To this day, hardly a day goes past that I don't listen to at least one song from it, even after over 25 years. They shaped my listening choices during my formative early teen years, and I love every song on it.

Members cratz2
Hrmm... I'd probably have to go with Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. Dark Side would be a close second.
Members RaVenCAD
I think I'll have to go with Metallica - Master of Puppets. Slash got me playing guitar with AFD, but MOP made me a metal fan.
Members Dogsinotpalc
Can't do it. I can't think of ONE single album above all the rest today at all. If I did, it wouldn't hold water tomorrow (if the feeling even lasted that long). Besides loving so much stuff and wanting access to all of it, I know I would get to hating that album if it was the only thing I had to listen to. Thank goodness this is only and silly HC thread hypothetical.
Frets99
Hendrix's Axis Bold as Love was my first seminal album and it's held up well over 40 years for me.If there can be a second, it would be Santana's Abraxas. Much otherwordly transportation in both of those. But there have been so many that I still listen to with a sense of awe. Members RaVenCAD
Wait, I changed my mind. Now it's Dio - Last in Line. My first record, and RJD had a magical effect on my young mind.

Members RaVenCAD
Oh crap, changed again! Now it's Ozzy Osbourne - Diary of a Madman due to events that are permanently sealed in an impressionable young man's juvenile record.

Members Flogger59
Abbey Road. It has it all, tunes, performance, great guitar playing, perfect arrangements, and side 2 still brings a lump to my throat after more than 40 years.
Members DaveAronow
I'm gonna cheat and use a best of record set. It would have to be either Gold and Platinum, or The essential Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Members xrleroyx
Yikes. What a tough question. I'd have to say Californication, or the first Doors album, or Quadrophenia.
