Post your gear in full detail (mods, tunings, setups)

Guitars

Suhr Pro Series S3-SSH+/FL/FL pickups, standard tuning

PRS SE Singlecut-Ernie Ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottom String, drop D,control cavity wired with Evidence Audio Monorail

Fender Telecaster-Schaller Locking Tuners, Seymour Duncan Lil 59' in the bridge, Graphtech Saddles

Fender Celtic Showmaster-Skinny Top Heavy Bottom Strings,Drop C

Fender Stratocaster-Eb, D'addario 9's

Epiphone PR5-E-D'addario EXP Medium Strings

Amps

Furman M-8-power conditioner for the rack

Fractal Audio Axe FX-Main patch consists of 2 signal chains connected at a mixer with a looper at the end of the mixer so that I can switch between clean and dirty with a single footswitch as well as loop. First chain is clean consisting of a Fender Blackface > Celestion Blue 2x12 > Reverb and the second chain is a CAE 3+ SE > Mesa 4x12 IR > Delay

Carvin DCM1000 Poweramp-Currently powers the Fractal but will no longer be used soon as I've bought KRK RP6G2 Monitors

I get the following this week : VHT Deliverance 60 + Orange 2x12 which will be used for jamming and allow my Axe FX to be used more specifically for recording and low level playing at my apartment. So my 2 setups will be Axe FX > KRK Monitors for recording/apartment jamming then Pedals > VHT D60 > Orange 2x12 for Jamming with my band.

Effects

Paul Cochrane Timmy

EHX SMMH

Boss RC-2

I have tons of effects and swap them in and out all the time but with the Axe FX most arent needed so that list of pedals will be used with the VHT with probably more added (specifically reverb and maybe a fuzz and wah)

Misc

Cables-Kind of a given, Evidence Audio for everything, Monorail for patch cables, Melody for longer leads, and Siren II for speaker cable

Picks-Dunlop Jazz III (black ones)

Maintenance-Dunlop 65 System

Drums

Mapex Pro M with Zildjian ZXT Cymbals

Remo Ambs

Bass

Carvin Custom LB70

Squire P Bass

Ashdown Perfect 10

Recording

HP 2.3 Ghz Quad Core + 6 GB RAM + 500 gig harddrive

Adobe Audition

Sure...I'll do this again...

Guitars

80s Cherryburst ASAT Classic - Standard, D'addario or DR 10s

70s Electra x260N - DADGAD, same strings

These guitars both rule.

FX

In order...

Russian Big Muff with clipping and feedback mods -- Gets mostly used for huge sustain or for controlled feedback things.

Mellowtone Muff Fuzz -- Dirty boost.

Arion Stage Tuner

PM-7 -- Not getting used much...I used it more when I was playing with keys more.

Echo Park -- Mostly using the analog setting but it really changes up.

Also a FX-17 that I'm not using for now. Not too happy with the dirt section right now, but also have no money to switch things up. All runs off of two OneSpots (the Echo Park gets its own to prevent hum).

Amp

1976-79 Ampeg V4

Avatar Contemporary 2x12 with V30s and a closed back.

I just got the head recently. I've been through more changes with amps than anything else, and the V4 is the one here to stay, no doubt about it. It's in the shop now, and I can't wait to hear it running properly. The cab is solid...the speakers are a great match for this amp.

Effects (can't really buy much, I'm awfully poor)

Strings and Things: Jazz III for electric, .73 Nylons for acoustic.

Parts-built Jazzmaster I got this off eBay for like, three hundred bucks. I have no idea if it's a Warmoth, Allparts, USACG, or what. It works all right, but I don't like the pickups. Live backup for the Firebird, otherwise it just sits in the case.

Use the Cut control, or the Normal Channel, or both? :poke:

Seriously, with the Brilliant Channel, start with all controls at 12 o'clock and work from there. Running the treble dial much lower costs you mids, which can make the amp seem more treble heavy than it otherwise would.

Guitars

Fender MIJ Jerry Donahue Telecaster (3-tone burst), 10-46 d'addario strings

Fender 52 ri Telecaster (Butterscotch blonde, beat up), 10-46 d'addario

Both are in standard tuning.

Amps

Bad Cat Cub II, non-verb, 2x10 Jensens. I'm only running the Volume knob - 5-way select Tone knob - Cut knob. I bypass the Bass, Treble, and MV knobs.

I want to keep my amp as basic as possible.

Effects

Analogman King of Tone v2 - this can be either a boost or drive, I'm running it mainly as a mild drive that breaks up when I dig in.

Gas Pedals Dumb Bell - This is a killer dual channel drive that interacts great with my amp, a natural sounding 2nd and 3rd channel.

ClinchFX EP-PRE - I use this as an overall sound enhancer, it really fills out frequencies. I haven't used it live yet, but I definately get the feeling this will make me pop in the mix.

Nova Delay - the delays this guy has in it kill me a little. It has really made me appreciate delay and helped scuplt my playing around it.

Boss RV-2 - the reverb in this unit is really nice, it's much more alive than the rv-3 I had and better than what was in my old ac-30. I'm looking for something more, probabley gonna head the T-rex route.

TU-2 - it gets me tune.

I have a Bad Cat 2-Tone coming in the mail, I'm thinking it will help me lay off my other drives.

I'm thinking an Empress Trem might be a cool addition, I love trem and haven't had it for quite some time.

Guitars

I play a Fender Custom Shop NOS Telecaster. This guitar was originally a NOS when it was purchased, but has been played extensively so there is lots of natural wear on the neck and a healthy amount of gunk and dents on the body. The nitrocellulose finish is very soft looking visually, and is fairly transparent showing the grain of the ash body very prominently. I string it with .009-.046 D'addario strings, use Ultex 1.0mm picks, and run the stock FCS neck and bridge pickups.

Other guitars include a Yamaha FG-411 12 string acoustic, strung with light gauge Martin strings. This guitar was my first to call my own, which my parents bought me when I was 10.

CS52Tele13.jpg

Strap

I use the Brown Deadstock Luggage Guitar Strap from Couch, ordered shorter than usual.

tn-brownluggage_03_LRG.JPG

Cables

All cables are Planet Waves, two Custom series from guitar to pedals and from pedals to amp, and a Cable Station kit to connect all pedals.

Effects

Digitech Whammy - I don't incorporate this pedal much into my rig, but when I do I usually keep it on the end.

Ernie Ball VP Jr. - Solid volume pedal used as a gain control for my dirt pedals. Tonally, backing up on the VP Jr. sounds a little different than rolling down my volume knob on my guitar. I believe it's due to the pot values in each.

Korg Pitchblack - This one is coming out of the "tuner out" on the Ernie Ball. It is usually always kept on, and I just back up on the VP Jr. to start tuning.

Electro-Harmonix HOG - I mainly use this pedal set to sound very Hammond B-3ish, and stick to the Freeze-Gliss mode to incorporate portamento between chords. I also always have the exp. reverse and spectral gate engaged.

Moog EP-2 - This expression pedal is connected to the HOG and is used to freeze chords in the heel position, and let the guitar signal through in the toe position.

Way Huge Swollen Pickle MKII - Fuzz based on a Big Muff, set to a very saturated yet midrange-heavy sound that sounds crossed between a Fuzzface and a Muff. Very crunchy when rolling down on the volume knob on the Tele, and stacks well for leads.

Pro-Co Vintage Rat - This pedal from the early 90's has been modded extensively, starting with the obvious additions of a "lube" knob (inverted treble/presence control to tame harshness) and 3-way toggle for different tonal options (to toggle between LM-308 ala Vintage Rat, clipping diodes ala Turbo Rat, and a boost setting). Other mods include new aluminum gunmetal knobs, sky blue LED, true bypass 3DPT switch, and a Boss 9VDC power socket attachment on the back.

Hardwire DL-8 - Current delay, usually set as to mimic an analog delay or as a phrase looper. Looking to sell this delay soon for an EHX Deluxe Memory Man.

Power to the pedals is provided by either their respective power adapters or via 9 volt batteries (for the Rat/Pitchblack).

Hog2.jpg

Amp

I play through a Vox AC30H2, the handwired 50th Anniversary model finished in cream tolex. The amp was retubed with Mullard EL84s approximately 8 months back, and lives in an Angstrom 3/4" ATA roadcase finished in standard black. Mainly I stick to the EF86 channel set to Pentode mode. I find the EL84 section has a bit more jangle to the high-end, while the EF86 has a more prominent midrange.

Vox2.jpg

I'm quite content with my guitar/amp combination, but do plan to get another electric in the near future. Prior to that however, I would like to finish up my pedal section with a DMM, Boss FRV-1, RC-20XL and OD-1, Drasp-modded DL-4 and Memphis Tremolo. Stick them on an ATA board with a tier set to the left, with a MXR/CAE Power Supply tucked under that.
