which one should I refinish? I was planning on the Danelectro clone for a while, but I got this SG JR super cheap and I don't know if stripping it down is worth it from some comments I heard about the body probably not looking great if paint was removed anyway...

opinions?

I really liked the Epi SG that was around last year in the worn brown ... so I wanted to do that but the body from what people say is probably multi-pieced and poorly grained so the stain would look striped...

then I thought about just painting it a nice choco-brown...

which lead me to just using the copper...

Dano, because that is an ugly looking burst. Also because pretty soon a million people are going to chime in and say that you should paint the SG Pelham blue anyways. Then get a tele. The internet wants everyone to have teles and pelham blue sgs.

I'd paint the SG. Stripping it down to a natural finish is probably not a good idea; I've heard rumours that they're made out of mystery plywood. The Dano clone would look good in copper, but it's already cheesy enough in a Dano sort of way, and of the two, the SG looks like its finish could use the most help.

But instead of copper, have you ever considered Kerry Green and a white pickup cover?

PS Kerry Green > Pelham Blue. :cop::D

Is Kerry green gibson's name for seafoam? Or is it that muted limeish color?

It's closer to Surf Green - as far as I know, Gibson never had an exact match for Seafoam. I did see a turquoise Casino once that looked incredible, but again, it's not the same as Seafoam.

That "muted lime-ish color" is probably either Inverness Green or possibly Kerry Green with a heavily yellowed clear coat.
