Exactly - I'll put money on 90% of the voting public having no real idea what their candidate is about. They only know what they see on TV or the internet. I don't mind Obama. I thought McCain had a lot of good ideas until he picked Sarah Palin as his running mate.

No matter who it is though, the progression of greed, no accountability & irresponsibility that seethes through our culture like a disease will continue unabated.

I'd rather spend my time writing music or focusing on ways to improve my personal finances, then heading down to the voting booth to cast a ballot for some cookie cutter politician who wont make a damn bit of difference to the real problems this country faces.

+1.

Regarding McCain I didn't mind him but I wasn't crazy about his temper, and although he talked about 'new' ideas, his overconfident "I know how to do it" and the persistent lack of details turned me off even before he picked Palin and the more I knew about her....well...let's not go there :D.

I'm not crazy about Obama either but he is a smart and cool guy that will 'hopefully' change the way many things are done + he is the only candidate in a very long time who said something I like about education, big plus IMHO.

What does it matter what other countries think of our President? Do you like Putin? Do you like Chavez? What about Mubarak, Peres, Halonen, or Zapatero? What do those folks matter to you? Do think one day you will have tea with them?

Yeah, foreign policy is hard. Let's go shopping.

The level of cynicism in this thread is astounding ...

I can certainly understand it ... and probably share more of it than I'd rather admit ... But to wear it like some fashionable broach or practice it like a religion is just ... well, disheartening to say the least ...

Congratulations on your disengagement ... !!!

don't think that's quite fair....one could say that, for instance, that some people wear their susceptibility to propaganda the same way...

What an ironic post. I wonder how many Obama voters know what he is really about. Or should I say understand what he is about. An ever-decreasing ceiling for the definition of "rich". Taxing small businesses (let alone large companies), penalties for producers of energy (the recent story on killing the coal industry is telling), a "Civilian National Security Force" - WTF is that? (SS anyone?). Hiding details of his background like his birth certificate, his college record, his medical records, among many other things. "Punishing" media that disagrees or reports something negative. Instigating, and/or by silence, condoning the search of private records on civilians for political reasons.

It doesn't matter what you think of McCain, a vote against Obama is a vote against New Nazism. I mean, if you ever wondered how an "intelligent, sophisticated" electorate could allow someone like Hitler to ascend to power, wonder no more because you are witnessing it right here during election '08.

History is clearly lost on the Obama Koolaid drinkers.

Are any of those countries superpowers?

I have traveled the world and there have been times I was scared to be an American. A president who could repair America's image would be nice.

What does it matter if they are super powers (Russia was, once, and may be yet again, a super power).

I thought people world-wide were sophisticated enough to realize that an individual is not their government, or their President. If they're not (which they aren't according to your arguement), then what does it matter who is in the office? They're going to always find ways to hate Americans.

If you buy into droolmaster's reasoning (and some of the others here), Obama is not going "fix" our "image" enough to matter, so the point is moot in this election.

Has he actually defined 'rich'? I don't think so. There is a threshold at which taxes will be raised - but it's my understanding that it's just retreating to about the level we had during the Clinton administration. Certainly not a radical proposition, despite the red baiting desperation of the right wing nut jobs. I'm not quite up on the entire history, but has it shifted much from the 250,000 mark? If so, has it shifted enough to be truly labeled as 'ever shifting'? Is he about something else than other people who believe in progressive taxation? Is it automatically insidious to want a slightly more progressive tax structure than George Bush?

What the hell are you babbling about?

It doesn't matter what you think of McCain, a vote against Obama is a vote against New Nazism.

That is such an extremely irresponsible statement that it borders on hilarious. This goes beyond anything that you'd see on Fox News on its worst day. The man is a middle of the road Democrat, whom some have come to believe has progressive politics. You're a smart guy - why can't you argue real issues, rather than all of this ridiculous hate mongering?

I mean, if you ever wondered how an "intelligent, sophisticated" electorate could allow someone like Hitler to ascend to power, wonder no more because you are witnessing it right here during election '08.

I proudly reject your psychotic, delusional view of history.

Mostly they hate our government, not Americans per se. And damn - if a country bombed and then took over my own, I'd probably find a way to hate them too.

I kind of agree with you on this one - it's kind of borderline. I think that Obama will be slightly less aggressive than Bush was, or McCain would be, but his stated policies are far from being antiwar. If he actually acts consistently with his statements, I suspect that he won't be loved for long.

I'm sorry, but wtf? Do you actually know what you are saying? Just because you don't agree with someone's point of view does not mean that you have to compare him to Hitler... That is offensive in so many ways...

As an outsider (European) I haven't followed both campains that well, but I think Obama is the lesser of two evils. Think about the choices, a grandpa that's half dead allready and a probably not experienced enough senator. If I were an American, I'd probably not vote, but if I had to, Obama would get my vote.

Btw, I find your avatar really uncool. Quite childish and untasteful.

This is just as off the hook as a rabid Obama fan boy supporting everything the man says or does just because he's protrayed on TV as the 'harbinger of change' (I never thought I'd get nauseous when I heard the word 'change', but I digres...)

Sizzle you don't know anything more about these folks than I do, or anyone else does. There is so much media spin, propaganda and bull{censored} surrounding anything that has to do with politics that it's impossible to make statements of certainty regarding anything about them.

Each one of them will cater to their supporters, their special interest groups, and their close circle of friend's finances before they will do anything that's good for the country as a whole.

Tough. You admit you haven't followed the campaign, but have no problem admitting how offended you are.

Deceit on a mass scale, myth-making, and back-room power-plays defined Hitler's rise to power. It will define Obama's, too, if he's elected (this year or in the future). Obama is doing this on a scale never seen before in modern American politics.

So, your offense is offensive. And I find the entire '08 election year offensive, most especially the sheep-like acceptance of the electorate.

Why did Hawaii's governor seal the savior's official birth records? Why has a court case trying to access these records been put off indefinitely? Why do party hacks go after personal, confidential (government protected) records of people who "embarass" the Messiah?

Why is the LA Times refusing to release a potentially damaging video when you KNOW they'd have released it a long time ago if it were damaging to McCain?

Where are Obama's health records? What about his college records? What about all of the flip-flops regarding ACORN, his associations, his stated policies, his votes (or lack of), and why no critical scrutiny among media that is all too eager to scrutinize Palin or McCain, or even Hillary?

Do give me this {censored}, this guy STINKS of something we haven't seen the likes of in this country in a long time. Bill Clinton seems like a GREAT, balanced candidate compared to Obama. The only thing that supports the statement "Sizzle you don't know anything more about these folks than I do, or anyone else does." is because IT's TRUE. By now, we'd know what underwear color a candidate prefers - but the only thing we have on Obama is WHAT OBAMA HAS APPROVED FOR RELEASE. That's not right.

I travel overseas with my family once or twice a year, mostly to Europe. The sentiment I've seen and heard the most is anti-Bush, as opposed to anti-American. Lots of graffiti mentioning Bush comes to mind. That being said, I've certainly felt it best to maintain a low profile as Americans traveling abroad.

There are many Americans - especially those who've traveled and have a more global perspective - who understand how important it is to win back the respect and trust of other nations in a post-9/11 world. Unfortunately, there are also large numbers of people here with strong nationalistic and isolationist tendencies wrapped up well-intentioned, yet narrow-minded patriotism.

Tuesday will have much to say about the future of America and its direction in the world.

The voice of reason.

Now, let's talk about what's really important. Should we reverse the California judges ruling to allow gay marriage ?!?!?

Actually what I find hilarious is that the McCain campaign is calling Obama a socialist and sizzlemeister is calling him a fascist. I'd really like to know how he can be both.

Being an ex-Arizonian I had a lot of respect for McCain until he sold his soul to the extreme right wingers, nominated Palin as his running mate, then proceeded to run a campaign that consisted of criticizing Obama for everything, yet never offering any detail of his own policies, just assuring us that he's 'been tested' and he's consistently 'reached across the aisle'. The Joe the Plumber fiasco was the last straw. Yes he once was a maverick, but now he's just a sad panderer who will sell his own credibility, honor and respect to get elected.

I'm a registered independent but I will be voting Obama this year.

NOOOOOOOOOO, how can we draw the attention of the voters to their color of underwear when we do not know the color?????

The end of the run for election can be a pain, doesn't it?? BTW, did we know the color of Hitlers underwear?? Probably not, otherwise Sizzlemeister could not compare them both!!!
