Members mhuxtable
I have the chance to buy a SF Twin Reverb....recently recapped by a reputable guy. I've missed having a Twin. It's the 135 watt version...so, late 70s. Speakers are replaced with EVM-12Ls. I'm not familiar with how the speakers sound....and I've only played 80 and 100w Twins....never the 135w with master volume. $500 Hit it or quit it? Members WildBilly
I like that deal if it was here because I don't see a lot of those come through. So god-damned heavy though man, especially with those speakers. I know beating a dead horse but get your strong arm ready
Members 4nd3h
I'd say hit it because {censored} Canadian prices - couldn't get one for less than 1k here:mad:

Members DylanWilde
12L's are supposed to be excellent speakers, from what I understand - very round, even frequency response and loud as {censored}. However, they're heavy, as is the entire amp. Good deal, but good luck.

Members dap99
Yeah, at that price, hit! You can easily flip it for a profit if you ever need. And +1 on the casters, I finally put them on mine. Well, it had them, but not the wheels. Sooo much easier

Members echodeluxe
go for it. great price. and if you dont like the sound (which i doubt) blackfacing that amp is a cinch.
Members skipstar59
It's a great deal for $500.With the EV's it's going to weigh over 100 lbs. It's going to be a tone monster, and if you're putting casters on it there should be no problem. I'd snag it,but then again I'm a Fender amp whore. UL Fenders can't be blackfaced without changing at least one of the transformers, you're thinking of the 68-76 100watt twins. Id buy it, then probably sell the heavy speakers = $

Members echodeluxe
You can take iit those diodes in the power section, fix the preamp, and I think there's something with the phase inverter too. The transformer can sound really strident if you're overdriving it, but I mean, you're not gonna overdrive a twin. But you can do a couple mods and be like 75% there. I'm no expert but everything I've read about them (135W) says that blackfacing them would require so much reworking, parts and money, that it would make no sense at all to even contemplate it. the 85W SF Twins are the ones that are very easily blackfaced. the 135W is a killer bass amp, because that's exactly what it is. unless I was playing extremely loud music with a band that never played on stages where they would mic the amps, the 135W might be ok, but even then I would choose a different amp for guitar, one more focused on guitar specific frequencies. Members ollenorin
135 watter is the worst model of all twin reverbs, i even prefer the reissue. They dont sound anything like the 60's blackface or 68-72 sf's. The 70's 100 watter with mv is also much better. Id stay away
Members WeStartToDrift
EV speakers are the best. Clear and crisp and all that jazz. I have the 12L's and a 15" in my cab and it sounds {censored}ing great.
