OT: Have you ever noticed how much Slipknot ripped off Fear Factory?

I love Fear Factory, esp. the Dino years. Post Dino is just "okay".

I don't see the link between the two bands.

Burton's much more melodic in his vocals, and they have that whole industrial metal thing happening, too. Whereas Slipknot doesn't.

I just hear a good thread of FF in Slipknot, proving they aren't all they are played out to be.

Forgetting all the idiots in this thread who say "both bands suck", Slipknot sounds NOTHING, NOTHING like Fear Factory. The original poster has thoroughly showed he has no clue what he is talking about.

They are both aggressive nu-metal bands, that focus primarily on grinding syncopated rhythms.....not to mention the screaming vocals.....:thu:

Ford and Chevy trucks share a lot of the same attributes.

Try to get a Ford and Chevy guy to agree that two similar models are the same.

p.s. I talked to God. He say's you're a very troubled mind.

Joshua. I know you are confused because everyone is supposed to hate slipknott and you got flamed pretty bad, but shouting the same thing only louder does suggest you are a douche.

I did a similar thing where I was convinced Amaon Amarth ripped off Bolt Thrower. A lot didnt see it, a few did.

I hear the tales of war, the similar drum guitar patterns and a similar vocal style and saw the link.

Cue Renoir1 to download Amon Amarth and Bolt Thrower.

Go to a FF show and tell the people there that they are Nu Metal. When you wake up, think about what you said.

That doesn't mean there's any connection or influence.

"They're both loud!!111" Doesn't qualify as proof that one is a ripoff of the other. They're very similar except for the drumming style, vocal style, guitar style, lyrical concepts, song arrangements, production, tuning, and tone.

They have similarities in things like detuning and general agression, but the two bands have completely different dynamics. Fear Factory is all about the machine-gun accurate rhythm while Slipknot is a lot looser rhythmically. It's like comparing early Metallica to Slayer of the same era. Same genre, and a ton in common, but very different all the same
