Members MattACaster
We recently parted ways with out lead guitar player and I think a lot of those parts are going to fall in my lap. I used to be pretty decent at it but over the last 8 years or so I've focused quite a bit on song writing and singing and have lost quite a bit of my ability. Can you guys offer any tips on improving or point me in the direction of some good exercises/lessons or anything that would help me work on it? Looking to expand upon that and get my fingers back in shape.
Members Lucius
mindless hard work to get your technique. If you've been concentrating on song writing that will also translate well to phrasing. Cheers, Lucius
Members flyingrhoads
As simple as it sounds, practicing is the best way to go about it. Just start messing around with random patterns and after a while things will start falling into place for you!

Members '63-Strat
Depends how big your "vocabulary" already is. Transcribing good solos and learning to use those licks in every key is a good place to start.

Not even the ones I wrote...

Members Mike LX-R
Thanks! I gotta order from Amazon soon anyway so I will tack this on there. Thanks! I can't over emphasize what this video can do for your leads. I play it 3-4 times a week for at least 20 minutes just to keep my skill level climbing. Even round #1 (there's like 10 or 12 rounds, i can't remember) will improve your playing... even if you're already pretty handy on the guitfiddle. It's like putting in a tae bo exercise video, or P90X, but only for your guitar chops.
