Members guitarbilly74
Thinking about getting one for some gigs when I need a super clean tone + high gain. Bonus points if they can also double as a boost in front of a distorted amp. Suggestions? Please suggest something that doesn't cost $300+ because for that price I'll just buy another {censored}ing amp!

Members sleewell
not sure but i think i read somewhere that the bogner pedals feel like an amp, check TGP for sub 300 prices with very little actual playing time. i also really miss and plan to replace the FD II i just sent to Dolf

Members newholland
big fan of the box o' rock-- but it might be a little loose for ya. it's nice though 'cause it's a boost AND a gain pedal- they're not cheap, but they're pretty useful critters. Members heath
OCD or the Danelectro Cool Cat Drive that is based off of it. Works great as a solo drive pedal and probably my favorite boost pedal for my Recto verb.

Totally agree my man Though I have a feeling those new Bogners are made for Billy's situation... Sorry Billy, get out that wallet. I didn't want to ride that bandwagon either and I'm pretty sure Telephant is going to {censored} on my chest but the reviews and newer clips are pretty damn nice
Members chrispsullivan
If you want a high gain pedal then get a Barber Dirty Bomb and don't look back.
Members mamberg
+1 for the OCD set your amp for clean - and the OCD can give it a huge kick in the ass with very amp like dynamics. Of course, it works best when you can push your tubes over the edge into breakup - so the amp is providing some of the gain. So if you need a pristine - lots 'o headroom clean - it may not work as well.

Members peavey_impact
Danelectro Bacon n Eggs - the most amp-like distortion pedal out thereseriously though, check out a Pigtronix FAT Drive....I use it for switching between clean/heavies with my single channel maps. Can run at 18v so gain and dynamics for dayzzzz

Members guitarbilly74
Well yeah I already have the OCD... I like it for a mid-gain OD but it doesn't get heavy enough for my taste unless I add some break up on the amp itself, but then I am back to square one. Great pedal, I agree. I think it can't be powered by my ISO-5 though, which would be a problem, but I will look into it. That would be a great option. Members KCTigerChief
I've always liked what I've heard from the Suhr Riot. Very "hot-rodded marshall" to my ears. And they are like 200 new
Members Zozobra
Another nod for the suhr riot. Joyo do a clone of it called the U.S. Dream for about a tenth of what the the surh runs. I have the Joyo and its good and I usually run it into a clean amp. It worked pretty damn well with the low input of my buds GH100TI and its pretty sweet with my superbass.
