Moderators Red Ant Posted July 26, 2006 Moderators Share Posted July 26, 2006 Was in Truetone Music in Santa Monica today and saw an Ibanez Artcore AF_85 Violin Burst, mint condition. Picked it up - played amazingly well, like butter really, sounded good acoustic and very nice plugged in.... walked out with it and hard case... $299. Perfectly set up and intonated by Paul Flynn (one of the best guitar techs and luthiers in the business, imho) with flat 12s. here's a few pics - not mine, but just like it:

Moderators Red Ant Posted July 26, 2006 Author Moderators Share Posted July 26, 2006 I actually dig the pickguard I needed a Jazz box, but not so badly that I wanted to drop $5K on one - this was the perfect solution

Members Benz2112
A friend of mine has one of the 335 shaped Artcore models. Heard him at a gig and I wanted one too, unfortunately I think its more of a matter of how it sounds in his hands than mine. Good luck with it

Members mcinku
Yes it's a beauty isn't it. I almost bought that one myself but at the end I went with a AF105. The pickups sounded a little better (not much but they did).

Moderators Ratae Corieltauvorum Posted July 26, 2006 Moderators Share Posted July 26, 2006 Dont what ingredients they use for the Artcores but this has to be one of he best budget semi guitars around. And for Ibanez the pickups are amazing. Nice one and another likeeee for that pickguard:thu:

Members Ryan Trevisol
Sweeet Guitar!I had yet to see real pictures of Ibanez' violin burst, and that makes up my mind. I was debating on the AM73 in Cherry or the AS83 in violin burst, and now I know what I want!

Members jmf
That's a great deal... I bought an AK-85 when they came out and spent 5 bills with the case. Those are great guitars IMO... Put some 57's or SD 59's in it and it will totally come alive. Until you hear the difference, you can tell what a ridiculous disservice those pups are doing for that axe.
