1. I already do use a rig like this and love it. For the church gig I'm doing (long story) I use a Digitech RP1000 XLR'd to the FOH and have a small powered wedge (Kustom KPC12MP). I got the RP1000 used for $199 and the wedge was $99 new. So for $300 I have a rig that I can carry easily and it really sounds great. Using the RP is all about selecting the right cab sims and EQ'ing the presets well. My main rig is a GSP1101 into a pair of full range speakers. I usually set them up as a backline but it would be very simple to use them as wedges also. My stage sound is crystal clear and I can hear everything else. The sound to the FOH is always the same as what I hear. I would never go back to micing a cab. Those days are over. Oh, I went to see Dave Aronow's band a while back and he speaks the truth. They sound great. You would never know by listening that they run through all digital stuff. Digital and modeling has come a long, long way in the last few years. Guitarist need to stop being so close minded and try it out. Yeah it's a little different, but it's also a lot better.
2. Man, tough crowd out there. I listed My Michael Dolsey Goldtop with an opening bid of $299 (my min) and that was all I got. The Michael Dolsey was an Epi Goldtop killer and I really expected to do better. I thought it would go higher also. I had it on my watchlist and was thinking hard about buying it. I held off cause I'm gonna try and pick up a Gibson LP Axcess or a PRS SC245.
3. You just figuring this out? Modelling is still years away from competing tone/feel-wise with a real tube amplifier. Try Axe FX or an H&K zenTera. I've had good tube amps and and the zenTera sounds better. Has all the feel too.
4. Ace really needs the makeup nowadays. He's looking more and more like The Joker.
5. John Mayer should get a TV show. I'd watch it. He's funny. Agreed. That was pretty good. Better than a lot of the crap that passes for TV these days. This thread has made me like the guy.
6. Nice! My LP is also Ice Tea burst. They look great and seem to change color a lot depending on the light. Since you mentioned the case, from what I've seen the regular Gibson cases are nicer than the Custom Shop cases. The case that came with my Axcess is nothing special at all. In fact, it's probably no better than the $50 case I bought from MF for my other LP. The standard case that came with an LP Studio I had was much nicer than the Custom Shop case. HNGD!!
7. I think the guy is pretty funny. That was funny as hell. I got no problem with the guy. He's doin' better than me.
8. When's the most recent time that a necessity had to come before another guitar.. or amp.. or pedal.. and so on, for you? Um, always. Let's see right now I have to come up with money for the IRS, mortgage, utilities, child support, food, etc. Oh yeah, I need to save for an eye operation too. And currently unemployed. So yeah, no guitars.
9. I wish I didn't like them. They're {censored}in expensive.
10. I'm a better guitar player than Steven Seagal. Just don't ask me to fight him.
11. And if you think this is bull{censored} or overreacting; I have one question for you. If this was true, would you go out of your way to do business with these people? I mean if they are lying about items they are supposed to be buying, would you trust what they are selling or anything that came out of their mouths? That's a great point. If someone comes on here (or any other forum I'm on) and brags up how they swindled someone, I'm calling them out on it. There's no doubt they would do it to anyone on here. We should watch each others backs.
12. Yeah I want to to another Gibson Vs. Epi comparison video with my stock Epi G400. Should be interesting. To say the least. After you've had it a while a good write up of the differences and similarities between the two would make a good read.
13. Cool! I'll be looking for a video with it soon! HNGD!!
14. I know, and nor was I. It's just generally my thought on threads like this, dredging up past BS that is entirely unrelated to anyone here on the forum but involves pages and pages of {censored}. Who {censored}ing cares? Well I thought you did since you have 21 posts in this thread. Sorry, you left yourself open for that one.
15. where was this guy, do you remember? I saw a guitar that look like that one at the GC I go to...just the other day in the used section... It was at a Long & McQuade in Ontario, Canada. Oh, Mr. Goodbomb, I was not posting towards you in particular. No need to get snippy.
16. Wow. I was there for the original thread. Yes, the guys at the store knew the guitars were worth something and they knowingly lied to the guy about it. Even if you don't think they ripped off the customer they absolutely ripped off their employer. The guy gave the guitars to the store. They were the stores property. The dumbasses who kept the guitars had no right to them. They should be fired and criminally charged. If a guy trades in a car at a car lot, does the salesmen get to keep the car? Hell no.
17. You guys actually watch that crap? C'mon, there are perfectly good reruns on.
18. Good friend of mine has the Bich version of that guitar. It's kinda absurd... in a good way. The best part about that old Mockingbird was that I traded it even for a 75 Strat and a little Marshall practice amp! The Strat was stock except it had been painted in a godawful spray can green. I stripped it and repainted it in a godawful spraycan red and stuck a humbucker in it. CBS Strats weren't worth much then. I wish I still had it. Here's a scan of a very old pic of it. It's the one on the right (duh).
19. BC rich should make pink guitars They did (probably still do). I had a hot pink Mockingbird with a Kahler in the 80's. Yeah I know, who didn't? It sorta looked like this one:
20. Hang in there. I'll be hoping for good news. My ex mother-in-law is in the hospital right now also. It could be something similar.
21. I'm guilty of that. When I sell on Ebay I don't want to chance losing money on something. I'm selling to make money after all. It may not be as exciting but it gets your item in front of thousands of potential buyers and everything I've ever listed has sold and I've gotten what I needed out of it.
