WORST CRAP SONG EVER???

This may be the stupidest song ever written. Opportunistic novelty records like this one gave a bad name to the whole Disco movement (when there were some truly exciting and worthy Disco records out there)

Stick around for Rick Dees' commentary at the end of this clip. Just how coked-up is the dude, anyway??

To my way of thinking, a truly bad song is unintentionally funny or reprehensible or corny or otherwise unconvincing. It was intended by its writers/singers to be serious.

Which is why my two "woman's plaint" songs above are so campily funny.

"Disco Duck", above, to the degree that it was calculated to be cute or funny, to my way of thinking, is maybe not truly in the category of Le Bad.

Now THIS is Le Bad:

P.S. My favorite online radio station, LUXURIA MUSIC, plays a lot of "Le Bad" from the 50's, 60's and 70's. The whole station is kind of a postmodern "in joke" for Boomers.

Not really

I was just parodying the following thread:

Just ignore me

Some things you just can't parody because they're too bad to find anything worse to make the parody work... like rap or government in Massachusetts. Rap has become a caricature of itself. About every song could be a parody. Weird Al did a pretty good job with "White & Nerdy," but I don't think we

I remember buying this Rick Derringer LP back in high school and thinking this was perhaps the most retarded song I'd ever heard....

I'm sure a lot of us remember the one that started the CB craze....

"Convoy" is embarrassing not just because the CB radio phenomenon was so transitory... but because it plays upon a certain trusted intimacy it expects its audience to share with the singer...

That kind of "anticipated and expected intimacy" now feels like a corny element of a more simple time... :idk:

I'm certain the whole trucker/CB craze thing came about in response to the nationally imposed 55 mph speed limit. That put some serious hurt on the trucking industry and many normally law abiding citizens found themselves in conflict with the law.

People felt a sense of solidarity with truckers. The Smokey And The Bandit movie was a huge hit.

will the pop music industry please retire the ubiquitous
I-V-vi-IV
progression already? there's no more meat on that carcass. fly on.

Apparently by tuning your guitar down to drop B it's like a whole new set of tires on that old car.

Convoy is embarrassing because it targeted country truck drivers but was written by a guy from Mannheim Steamroller (the drummer, no less)
