  1. For me, Boss. I just don't like Rats in general. My pride and joy, if you can find one, is the Boss DD20 Drive Zone. Need a boss, it's there. Rat? gotcha covered there too. Tube Screamer or a Muff, it's in there too, and quite good sounding copies, all in a single pedal.
  2. Uhhh, welcome back? But for me the big question is: What was the McD ranch dressing doing in the house to begin with, let alone near a computer? Don't you keep toxic chemical compounds in the garage??
  3. While I agree with lighter gauge strings, and the minor truss rod adjustment needed afterwards, (Did you ever get the guitar set up?) it's a much simpler answer: you need to get used to it.
  4. Uhhhh, would you believe.... 2 grand? 1999 Gibson Custom Shop Gibson Rocks America NASCAR Les Paul Junior – Jimmy's Vintage Music (jimmysvintagemusic.com) I've played it. It's an incredibly nice playing guitar IF you don't look at it.
  5. Oh? do you want to see (... occasionally stupid...) from their Mod shop? Warning, you CAN'T unsee these. You have been warned.
  6. Each guitar is an individual. Most are ok, some great, some dogs. Don't let picking up a dog sway you from trying others. I went thru 5 SGs before discovering the "one". My Peerless, 3 before finding the one that spoke to me. Again, deal with them on an individual basis. And.... it's GC, you expect tuned? Poor foolish mortal.....
  7. The SZ series were great guitars that never caught on. And there is a way to make the middle position H+H. Replace the switch. It's one of Ibanez's experiments that again, never took off.
  8. AND... that the Magna series is a single vol/tone. I know, I had one.
  9. Ok, this will be just about exactly what you need except for the mini switch. (First diagram down.) Don't worry if they use all single coils. the concept is still the same. Strat - Master Tone - Wiring Ideas & Productive Discussion | The Gear Page To add the coil tap, Wire JUST the tap wires from the bridge humbucker to the switch shown this way. 1 Humbucker/1 Volume/1Tone/Pull for North Single Coil (guitarelectronics.com)

  11. 12 years later? I am sure they are no longer with us.
  12. Nice. I have a Scarlett 2 I picked up at a pawn shop for 15 bucks. Love it!
  13. Simple: add a wire from the neck input on the 5 way to the bottom lug, the one closest to the pickguard, on the push/pull. Then the center lug above the neck wire on the push/pull to the output of the 5 way.
  14. Hey all.... I think the title says it all. For the longest time, there just wasn't anything out there I wanted, or needed, to fill that GAS hole in my soul. That changed last week. ALL of the stuff you see is from ONE bloody stupid week of weakness. I am so blessed to have a wife who understands, allows me to spend my tip money from work as I please, and has an input in my purchases. I need help...... Ok., first off is a 2007 or so Gretsch G2616. Has had an obvious refinish, which my wife found cool, and plays quite wonderfully. An '87 Casio MG510. Yes, it's a Casio, and yes, that actually means it's an Ibanez with Casio/Roland electronics. Whenever you see these for sale, somethjing is wroong with it. The caps are notorious for drying out, bad circuits, etc etc. This one is perfect in every way possible. it plays as well as any Ibanez, just as nice as my RSRG440 from 86 with the same pickups and the like. The MIDI functions work perfectly, with damn near zero glitching, and even the built in tuner works as it should. AND it was..... cheap. How cheap? 120 USD cheap!! Next is an Ibanez ARC500. Consider it a baby Artist. REALLY nice playing guitar that feels more hollow-like then the solid body it is. Super 58 pickups, and oh, what's this? A Roland GK3A... why would that be there? Those were followed closely by a 2007? or so BC RICH Mockingbird One. Yeah, a budget like to replace the garbage Bronze line, but damn, it plays and sounds wonderful! And harkening back to my bass playing days, found this on CL. A 1973-75 Lincoln P Bass. I don't play bass much, but when I got it, I sat there for 2 hours playing, giggling like an idiot as I did so. AND it was 50 bucks with a hard case! And yes, it's a tele pickup in there from the factory. A weakness of mine is the Ibanez EX series. LOVE the maple body and flame maple neck. Plays extremely well, and was only 60 bucks. How could I say no? And near finally..... A 1973 Ibanez made El Degas ES345 copy! The Maxon neck pickup was DOA on arrival, the "Varitone" switch actually changes the cap values pre tone controls, and it has a little issue with the neck block that will be addressed soon. Plays nice and sounds unique. And now, why did that Ibanez have a GK3A pickup? Why to use the NEW Roland GR55 guitar synth of course!! Ok I promise NOT to buy more gear.... anytime soon!
  15. MAYBE if you posted the other diagram, we might be able to know what the hell you are talking about.
  16. No. Anyone who says otherwise hasn't a clue. Every year had good ones, brilliant ones, and crap. Each guitar is an individual. Think of it as such, and you'll do fine. Just play a few to see which is best for you.
  17. The Gibson is a ES125 with a Bill Lawrence XL500 pickup installed. Looks like it was converted from a right handed to a left handed. The Martin looks to be a mid 60's F65 or a GT75 with the bridge pickup replaced with a P90. The Hondo looks like an EG 1736 or a Revival from the 80's. Semi rare being a lefty.
  18. Fretboard is already cut for the locking nut, so.... And if your floyd is having tuning issues, check the knife edges at the pivot posts. Either the edges need a file taken to them, or the posts need the be replaced. DId you have that same issue with the other floyd that was on it?
  19. Exactly what Mr Grumpy said. The roller/lock nut combo is just plain redundant. No need for one, if the other is used. Cap values, .47 .22 all standard and 500K pots, exactly what's needed. Pickups. All depends on your playing style. Metal, harder edge rock, Higher output pickups. Examples being Duncan Nazghul, Dimeback, ect ect. More standard rock style, the 59, Jazz, Dimarzio Super distortion, Lawrence XL500, the list is near endless. REMEMBER to add a ground from the floyd to a pot. EMG's don't have this. I would go with a single coil sized humbucker in the neck, with a push/pull tone knob for series/parallel. (Gives you as humbucker, or a nice quiet single coil sound.) If you are really interested in different tones, go with a FREEWAY 6 way toggle switch. Series/Parallel, phase, normal, all with a flick of a finger. I have one on a Ibanez RS330. (single neck/single neck +bridge/out of phase neck and bridge/humbucker neck,/both humbuckers/humbucker bridge.) Home - freewayswitch
  20. Let's try something even simpler here: The slot of the saddle on the bridge might be the culprit. It's 50 years old, may have worn down. Hit a note on the E string while holding pressure behind the bridge on that string. If it rings normally, boom, you have your answer.
  21. NOT a Gibson, and NOT from the 70's. Epiphone, Made in Korea by SAEIN, in either 86, 96, or 2006. To my eyes, 96. Value? Around 300-350 on average.
