  1. OK spill? How are you recording your videos, cause they sound really good. Inquiring minds what to know. Mic's Pre's Recorder. Video editing software. ---------------------------------------------- Don't be shy, Rene.

    Now he tells me

Church or club, rhythm or lead, don't forget the one foot monitor pose. I have never done it, and it's a regret I many take to my grave. It does look cool though.

Speakers can be in stereo too. Solo or not. You could be the guy on the left with the Marshall plexi 1/2 stack and a Fender vibro king, or a Roland Cube. I've played at a few clubs and concerts with stereo monitor mixes. It seems like over kill to me. Who am I kidding I live for over kill. Anything worth doing is worth over doing.

That line out/ head phone 1/4 " will work just fine. I have an old Vox Valuetronix here at the house and have used it. Just line out into the PA or mixing board. Personally, I'm ok with sticking a mic in front of the amp. There something about moving air that I really like. Drive him nuts and do both, then tell him you want a stereo mix in your monitor(s). You know for your church solos.
  5. He was the drummer for the mockumentary Spinal Tap. I still get a kick out of that flick almost 40 years later. Ric Parnell was actually a real drummer and pretty good drummer. I heard about his passing on Sirius XM the other day. "The first question they asked was, 'What do you think about a movie that's going to tear your career apart?' I said, 'You should have made this movie about 10 years ago.' They then asked me what other bands I'd been in, and I said, 'Well, I was in a band called Atomic Rooster.' They looked at each other and said, 'Yep, that's it, you're our man.'

    McIntosh MC30 Tube Amp

Wow that's a really nice power amp. Kind of overkill for a guitar. Try some JJ Tesla's or NOS Stuff. I believe McIntosh had there own labeled tubes, that might have been made by Westinghouse/ RCA. 6L6GC might be smoother, while the KT66 might be a tad more aggressive. A 1614 is a metal case 25 watt tube and the 6L6 is a 19 watt tube. Mullard and Tung-Sol, are other brands that should very nice. Find another McIntosh power amp, cause that was made for hi end audio, and is begging for some vinyl. Electric guitars are kind of harsh on tubes, and not very high end fidelity.
  7. Les Pauls are supposed to be heavy. The do make weight relief-ed ones, but who wants to pay for air. I bought my LP standard in 1982. I ordered it from a same dealer in my old home town. It was supposed to be a custom, but Norlin turned it into a standard, new they saw my order come through. Note the maple neck. There's a few small dings in it after 40 years. It's a weird color gold too. Mostly when I gigged with and electric I used a Tele and a Strat. Yeah they are lighter for sure. I'd buy another Gibson Les Paul, but this time I want a 1960 Flame top. I'm holding out, cause I am semi retired and looking. I'm not a collector, but I have more than a few guitars kicking around. My wife is waiting for me to die, so she can hoe the house free of music gear. If she dies first, I'm gonna bury her in the back yard cheap and buy a few more guitars.
  8. OMG I hate to say this, but many a luthiers have made a fine living repairing Gibson headstock. I am not in the club. YET. One of SG's is 42 years old and in killer shape. My other SG is a classic with P90's.
  9. 1974-1979 OMI Dobro: Y (#)### D configuration. Y is last digit of the year (if this number is "3" it is actually 1974). 3 or 4 numerals in center are instrument ranking for year starting with 101. D is body type: D=wood, B=brass, M=steel or mandolin. 1980-1988 OMI Dobro: 8 (#)### yD configuration. 8 is the decade of manufacture (8=1980s). 2 or 3 or 4 numerals in center are serial number for year. Numeral y before letter is last digit of year. Last character is body type: D=wood, B=metal. Woody Body: D 750 instrument made that year of 1976. I think
  10. I owned on of those Danelectro Reissues back in the 90's It was a burgundy U2. 99 bucks and tax out the door. I could never find a case to fit it. I asked myself, why am I playing this thing. Sold to a guy in the area a few years later for 125. The only 12 string I own and have ever owned. The Taylor 562ce - Shaded Edgeburst mahogany body, might be something to look at down the road.
  11. I also saw the Taylor 12 strings. Small body, but strung like a Rickenbacker Big leaf maple on the 652ce Wild Honey Burst Taylor 562ce - Shaded Edgeburst mahogany body I though I would like the maple better, but with the smaller body and shorter scale. The Mahogany sound really good. I'd have to try it for sure. Taylor might be on to something for sure. The e2 expressions system is pretty good. I have in in a GS koa mini with the E2 pick up. I'll be digging around down the road.
  12. A buddy of mine owned a EDS1275, damn that thing was heavy.
  13. The only music instrument I ever built was a cigarbox guitar It came out ok, definitely playable. I actually bought the neck, as my time was limited. I spent quite a bit of time getting the neck angle right so it was playable. No gigs needed here.
  14. Anyone playing one. I'm thinking I could use one, well maybe. Of course, I could, what am I thinking. It's a down the road purchase. Gibson used to make a J185 - 12 string, but it's out of production. Th Guild F-512E could be the best option out there these days. I'll need to find one and give it a whirl. Taylor has a few. I'm not sure about them. SRV sounds good.
  15. Enjoy. I have never heard of the company. http://www.jnguitars.com/en/home.html http://www.jnguitars.com/en/shapes.html
  16. It's not like the guy was looking at for cheap gig bag and I sent him to Calton Cases. I try not to my too much made in China, if you can tell me how to do, I'd sure like to know.
  17. They have a website If this is what you are speaking of. https://stringsmith.com/shop/ols/products
  18. Leo Fender was was a life long freshman builder. He knew the necks would need to come off his guitars sooner or later. Good enough for Rudy Pensa and many other too. Like Suhr Guitars.
  19. Well maybe the f!@kin gear fairy will come along and sell them to him for 25/30 pounds, with free shipping and while the gear fairy is at it, hell put em on. You know the gear Fairy, the one that sells 59 Les Paul's for 125 bucks. Daddy Mack the big helper. I gave the guy and an answer, you gave him nothing.
  20. Not really. I have a very old Schotz 100X, but by that time they put in a side mount jack to plug in the power supply. I have actually never put batteries in min. I guess it open with a coin or something. I heard they were hell and ate batteries like no tomorrow. I don't have the box for mine, but it's in killer shape, with maybe some fine scratches in it a best. Headphones are in good shape and the foam hasn't gone to hell in the 30 years I have had it. I took the belt clip off when I first got it. It might be at my dads house. Yours has the power supply that goes where the batteries go. I do remember that. It's looks like it has a spring clip that locks it in the battery compartment. This is the power supply I have that mounts on the side of the unit. There are 3 screws that hold it together. I wouldn't take them out completely, just loosen them a bit and see if you can get the adaptor loosens out out. It might work. I also found a wed site that you might be interested in. http://www.rockman-repair.com/ David SG Ferringer also has a facebook page. He has Over 25 years of Specializing in Repair & Refurbishing Rockman's. Personally I think they sound like crap. but it was my original practice amp when people were sleeping amp. The switches on mine really chuck when you move then to another position. Mine was probably 200 bucks new, which was a lot of coin in the day. Folks are selling them for $500 and up on reverb and ebay. Don't mess up the poser supply either, they sell for over 100 bucks on reverb Mine was always stored in a zip lock bag, which kept it clean and pretty new looking. I hope this is some help.
  21. Those tuners are called Golden Aged tuners. I haven't measured those pups on your Jim Dandy, but Stew Mac has that style with some very nice review. Double your budget and your in, and will be very happy.
  22. Damn that's a mess. I wasn't sure if that was a neck thru or not. If it's a set neck stream it off and get it right. You could try a wrap around bridge, but I steam off the thing, if it can be, A freshmen luthier will be steaming of a lot of necks along the way. Might as well learn how to do it now. I don't know how many guitars Le Fender put through the wood chipper along the way. I bet it was a few. I built a cigar box guitar once and the neck angle was the most difficult part of the build. Probably by first and last build ever. It does play ok
