Another thought is try a 7 string?

25.5 scale. You can do everything on the 7 that you do on the 6.

You had to mention a Carvin 7 string didn't you Ken? Way to go! :poke: All of this Carvin talk is giving me Carvin GAS. I've been debating getting another Bari or a 7-string (since it's sonically more flexible than a baritone guitar is) for my next guitar (I miss the subsonic lows my old baris used to give me). Carvin + 7-string = hellllp!!!!! My GAS is in overdrive!!!!

Ha! I can just barely manage 6 strings. Sorry, I'm not THAT ambitious.

Say, you're a Carvin historian. Didn't Carvin offer a 25.5, Strat shaped guitar years ago; maybe the late 80s?

Well the current bolt and contour are 25.5.

The only other Carvin I can think of was

the BC130 back in '90.

It was a bolt on.

I don't recall there ever being a 25.5 neck thru 6 string

Hmmm, it could have been this guitar, but not sure. I remember reading a little review of it in a Guitar mag when it came out. I recall the guitar having 3single coil pickups but no pickguard. It might have had a Floyd but I'm sure other options were available. I believe the body wasn't the pointer profile Carvin but more Stratty. Could it have been a bolt-on? I just can't remember. I'm thinking late 80s at best early 90s. Don't think it was around very long.

BTW, those DC130s are pretty cool looking. I have to say, its a wee bit on the dinky side for my 6'4" frame. Still, the samples they have on that link are beauties! The all maple has that understated elegance I admire but that figured walnut is stunning. Something like that on a ST300 or Bolt Plus body is really what I'm looking for. Nice.

Ah ha!!! Well my man, you were close. You were just one year off. The guitar I was thinking about was the LS175 which came out in '91 and disappeared soon there after. It did have a 25.5 neck-thru design and did sport 3 single coil pickups.

It appears that this was a pretty good guitar but just failed to catch on. Pity.

Doh!!
I forgot all about those.
I don't think I've ever seen one in real life or on Ebay.
I just remember that Catalog.

Thanks, Leopard and Hum.

The access to the 24th fret is effortless.
No hinderence to the hand at all.

Even though the '89s have the sculpted hump, those are pretty effortless too.

I'm still in awe everytime I open the case.
