Members jds22
Beautiful!Carvin does a very fine job on their finishes and necks!I don't find the poly necks to be sticky at all, but the tung oil ones are just super smooth. If you plan on keeping your guitar for a LONG TIME... I'd say get a tung oil neck if you prefer it... why not... $50?M True enough. $50 extra is not that big of a deal in the long run. Members JWS
Nice guitar. I have a Carvin (DC135) and really like it. I have been eyeing the ST300 for a while and the pics of your guitar could really initiate a GAS attack. Congratulations. I am envious.

Members kherman
Very nice. Although, I've never been a big fan of dark quilted maple just for the simple fact you can't see it's beauty as well as lighter colors. She is sweet as hell, non the less. How would you compare your Carvins to your Parker as far as craftsmanship, paint, fretwork, overall design ect.....? Quality is easely as good as my Parker.Frets, finish, balance, feel, etc.. all excellent. I'm really enjoying her. Finally got to sit down with her for an hour.Gave the truss a little teak. She plays like butter.Super smooth. The neck is definitely a little thicker and rounder than the '89s. The '89s are a slim D.I'd say the '09 is a slim to medium C. Somewhere in there.Almost LPish. She's lighter in weight. My '89s (all maple) are around 10lbs.I'd say the ST300 is around 8lbs.
Members Crunchtime
POST IT!!! Here it is.It's pearl purple but looks pink in the pics. The one showing the back is closest to the actual color.I was blown away when I got it. It looked closer to 20 days old than 20 years old. Members Billyzoom
This thread is killing me! I'd been going back and forth between possibly getting a ST300 versus the Bolt-Plus. Both guitars are very similar. The most obvious difference is that the Bolt+ has a bolt-on neck versus the ST's neck-thru. And as with the regular Bolt, it has the Fender 25 1/2" scale versus the Carvin's regular two octave, 25" (ala PRS) scale. Otherwise, most of the options available are the same. Bang buck, the Bolt-Plus is pretty astonishing starting at $669. I think it has a bit more snazz over the regular Bolt too. Okay, so I decided I was going to order a tung-oil finished walnut neck and body Bolt-Plus with black hardware, birdseye maple board, walnut headstock, abalone dots, black/white humbucking pickups and Wilkinson trem. But having had a look at this dream ST300
Members kherman
Billy, Seriously what do you prefer? 22 frets or 24 frets? If you prefer 22, then get the Bolt +. If it doesn't matter or you prefer 24, get a DC or ST. For me the big asset to the ST and DC guitars is "no heel". Access to the 24th fret is excellent. No heel to get in the way. Either way you go, you're getting a top notch instrument.
Members aliensporebomb
ST looks gorgeous, I'm very glad they brought that particular body style back. Always wanted one. Ended up getting a Jackson Soloist instead after they discontinued these and that's very similar in terms of design/shape/wood. Very pretty guitar, you've got a nice collection that style now with varyingelectronics too.

Members kherman
Another thought is try a 7 string? 25.5 scale. You can do everything on the 7 that you do on the 6.

Members kherman
nice guitars. What do the carvin necks compare to feel wise? MM, Ibanez, etc.Depends on era! :lol:My '89 Carvins (STs) are a slim D shape. (But, not Ibanez Wizard slim)My '94 Dc400 Is a slightly thicker D shape. The '05 DC727 is a wide D shape. About the same thickness as the DC400.The new '09 ST300 is C shaped. Somewhere between slim and medium.I have no problem playing any of them. With in a minute or so, I acclimate to any of them pretty quickly.
