Gibson SGs: Cherry or Ebony?

Cherry shows beautiful woodgrain

Ebony's trying to hide something....

I get that thinking, but on the other hand, no one ever looks at a Steinway piano in lacquer black and wonders what they are trying to hide.

Check out this relatively rare critter I bought for my son some time ago.

That's an Epi Elitist. And even with the small pg on that guitar, the lacquer black still looks pretty sweet. But normally, I'd say HC on the small pg SGs, but I still like the looks of ebony on that guy.

White or Pelham Blue would be better choices

I would say cherry given what you posted

At least you can read, unlike other posters who insist the guitar should be something other than what the op wants.

I do like black SG's and black guitars in general. But too much time goes into polishing. I wanna play, not polish.

And as much as I love my Cherry Classic I bought from you, I prefer either white or black for a Standard.

White is for Customs. Specials and Standards should be cherry. Juniors can be either white or cherry. END OF.

And can we have a 'large or small pickguard' choice?

The small '61-style original 'guard is Da Wun.
