Members ggm1960
So Randy Bachman (my favorite guitarist of all time btw) went to Abbey Road and was able to listen to Pro Tools tracks from the original tape(s) of the opening chord. Many accounts include George Martin on piano but apparently that didn't happen. http://guitarsquid.com/Latest/qa-hard-days-nightq-opening-chord-mystery-finally-unraveled.html
Members blue2blue
Caught that elsewhere last week. It's certainly pretty convincing. I'd actually heard something similar (or perhaps identical) many years ago, that it was a combination of chords and the bass note -- and Randy and pals' demonstration sounds pretty right to me (and apparently to the audience). Members A. Einstein
somewhat funny is that the guitarologist needs to go to Abbey Road to hear what the chords are

Members rasputin1963
I thought all of us here recently busted our asses, trying to detect wavelengths and overtones present in this chord......?

Members WRGKMC
There was no piano in hard days night. You're mixing that up with A Day in the Life from the sargent peppers albumwhere they used pianos at the end. There was a song where the opening chords cause Johns acoustic guitar strings to sustain and be picked up on a mic. It might have been the opening chords to I feel fine where Pauls high bass note caused the acoustic sitting on a stand to self oscillate and add be picked up by a mic. Theres plenty of things that happen accidentally in a studio like that that just add to whats already there.
