Absolutely. Why do you think all those things were drilled out ad nauseum in the media as America scrutinized the manner and intensity of those associations to evaluate people? Your incredulity is misplaced.

Members Emprov
They were hammered to death. They were not (for the most part) deeply investigated and intelligently editorialized. There's a difference. It gained zero traction in the media. The US wants/needs Obama to be a hero, they don't want to hear negatives because it clashes with their mindsets. Even now, when he appears to be laughing with Chavez, calling vets and pro-lifers domestic terrorists, bowing to Arabian Presidents, etc..., two thirds of the US is still in love with him. Substitute "right" for "left" and the same can be said for the Bush administration and it wasn't until the last 4 that the little people finally caught on to the bull{censored}. Maybe it will happen sooner or not with Obama, but the FCC is running the show, no matter who is in office.

Only problem with what you're saying is that the media has been in the tank for Obama since day one, and the same media has hated Bush from day one... The media has downplayed anything negative about Obama for atleast the last 4 years, and has even gone as far as to make stuff up about Bush... - georgestrings

The only time Bush received somewhat fair treatment was right after 9/11. Even then he was supposed to immediately stop reading to the children, put the young kids all in a panic and go press some buttons for cruise missile launches on aspirin factories. Members bbl
This FBI interrogator says that Zubaydah "provided a great deal of actionable and accurate intelligence from traditional Western interrogation techniques." He doesn't believe that torture provided any more info that traditional techniques could have: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/23/opinion/23soufan.html?_r=2&partner=rss&emc=rss Bush's FBI Director has also said that torture doesn't work. Members catphish
Bush's FBI Director has also said that torture doesn't work. All the "experts" I've heard talk about it have agreed that it does "work" to get information they are looking for, but it does more harm than good in the long term. Yes, it works when there's specific information you want, accurate or not. Such as a link between Saddam Hussein and Al Qaeda. Which just might explain why Zubaydah was tortured (many times) after he had already provided actionable information.

We're not talking political parties, we're talking about the general media. Bush's media pass was akin to Palin's media pass during the election... Unless it was something really stupid, you didn't hear much about it. They'd just chalk it up to "Oh, that's just George." Obama has gotten a lot of criticism from both sides of the fence so far in his Presidency & the way things are right now I don't see that stopping. I think he's viewed as a "media darling" because he's a charasmatic guy. People, Rolling Stone, et. al. don't care much about politics... They care about the glamour part of it & that's it.
