Members Vinny D
I buy all my speaker cables from: http://procablesnsound.com/items/speaker-cables/power-sc00-nlnl-12-2-20300-detail.htm
Members STRAT TOOL
I bought mine at MCM electronics (dot com) And was pleased with the price and quality. Got quite a few mic cables from them as well. Website is a bit treacherous as their catalog is huge but once you find "pro audio" and "cables" you should be close. Also a good place for replacement speakers if they have what you want.
Members BillESC
I prefer 12 gauge Whirlwind cable with Neutrik ends. Make my own.
Members popgadget
I have had great luck with the 13 gauge EWI cables from Audiopile. I also buy Neutrik connectors from them to build or repair my own cables.
Members tlbonehead
What should I get, gauge and brand?I will be running subs.Where's the best place to buy?Thanksyou really need both sides to be that long? Members W. M. Hellinger
you really need both sides to be that long? How much power will be going thru them? Good point... 50 footers can be a challenge to coil and uncoil. Maybe consider a combination of shorter cables and a couple NL4MMX barrel couplers. Members banddad
I hate 50' cables, too much of a pain to deal with. I've gotten to like 15' and 30' cables, and use the Neutrik speakon cable connector if I need a longer cable. +1 (or is that 6?) for Audiopile. How much power are you running? This is more important than subs vs mains.
Members tombo007
2-SRX718s 4 ohms XTi4000 Bridged. I have been sailing as long as I have been coiling up cords. I don't mind a 50' cords, I have 4 XLR 50' too. I have my amps on one side of the stage. So my run to the other tops and bottoms can run over 25', I bet I could do with 35'. Maybe I will buy some connectors and some 20 footers Thanks for all your help!
Members popgadget
I have never used the barrel connectors, they seem like they would be kind of "clunky". How long are they? It would be nice not to have any speaker cables longer than 30'.
Members BillESC
What a bunch of wimps. I have 12/2 Speakon cables in my rental inventory up to 250 feet. We also have 4/0 welders feeder cables that are 100' long.
Members RoadRanger
Don't know if this is the problem you all are havin' but while you can get away with "arm winding" 20' cables you have to "over under" the longer ones or face battle with the resultant tangles every gig . Members mshifflett
Brand is up to you as long as it has quality connectors. I wouldn't go under 13 gauge though.
Members srp72ee
I have 6', 15', 50' and 90' cables all 12/2 (bought a 1000' spool). 90' is not really a problem to wind up...
Members WynnD
Made my own. All 12 gauge / 4 conductor for bi and tri amping. The wiring is rated 250 volts and submersible. (Like that would be a problem with my amp outputs.) No one stocks four conductor speakon wiring out here.

Was the submersible feature a selling point? :poke: I've never done an underwater gig yet...

Members boomerweps
The male to male cable end connectors are the same diameter and length as the newer NL4FX cable ends. A little "clunkier" than plain cable but no too much. You do know, don't cha, that there is absolutely NO reason to match cable lengths to each side? Don't forget to add the vertical drape of the speaker cables with the speakers on poles or stands to your length consideration. I strongly suggest you buy a spool of 12ga SJOW or SJEOW and some NL4s and make your own. It's the cheapest and a very easy way to go. CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted March 19, 2010 CMS Author Share Posted March 19, 2010 Guns (well, guns are easier here than TX, actually), huge drinks, and a legal system that has the death penalty, and by God uses it. Members Coaster
speaking of spilled drinks, last friday i opened my cable tub to find about 800' of 12/3 covered in some type of gloppy, gross oily antifreeze type mess. i would have preferred spilled drinks. this may up the calendar on converting all the cables to twist lock. i dont even care how/why it happened, i just want folks to stop using my stuff.
