YES was once the coolest, hardest working, rockingest band ever. Here you are catching them some 25 years past their prime, schizophrenically trying to reconcile two completely disparate periods of their history, mixing Steve Howe in with the 80s YES lineup. Not so good.

Try these instead:

Readers voted Steve Howe "Best Overall Guitarist" in Guitar Player magazine five years in a row (1977 - 1981). But since you are dissing his clothes well, yeah, I guess he's wide open for criticism on that count.

I am listening to Fragile now, (bought it at pawn shop yesterday for $1.50). I've had Classic Yes forever, but this is my first proper Yes album.

That said, the "solo" pieces on here by Wakeman, Anderson, & Bruford make me want to slit my wrists. Howe's is nice though, as is "South Side Of Heaven". The rest is on Classic Yes, and great stuff. Roundabout is win on so many levels......

I am aware of Yes and their history, they are amazing musicians...that said, I always leaned to the Fripp side of the Prog....anyway I was mostly ribbing on the "cool" fashion sensibilities.

Wait... is there a lute involved in this?

Nah, Portuguese 12 string guitar. Same one he used way back on "I've Seen All Good People" on The Yes Album.

The singer is Max Bacon. Other than a couple of tunes he sang on for Mike Oldfield GTR was the high point of his career. On the other hand the drummer, Jonathan Mover, has played with half the planet, including Satriani and Vai.
