I can't necessarily comment on chorus specifically, but since a chorus is just a lazy flanger and I'm swimmin in flangers, My hartman likes the loop and my Paul G AF2 doesn't. Less cheesy that way in my limited experience with chorus pedals I've gone through. Not sure if it's more subtle though. Well, for filters like phasers, definitely (I also do prefer placing a phaser before dirt).
