Members JRBain
I post quite a bit over there, but mostly for the amusement. The fact that unsuspecting young players go there asking for a pedal recommendation the answer to which is plainly 'Tubescreamer', yet instead get a barrage of expensive boutique offerings that only TGP has ever heard of, shows how out of touch so many of them are. The hype machine there never ceases to amaze me. The pedals that that place glorifies will be on all of their boards within days, and it seems plain that boutique builders feel able to overcharge because they know that people like that will pay. Not to mention the obsession (all of the abuse is justified ) with Klons, 'D-sound' (even though many of these pedals don't actually sound like Dumbles because many of them don't actually know what a Dumble sounds like), overpriced pedals (BJFe etc) and the rest. And though I like being able to have threads dedicated to guitar playing in a worship setting, the abject lack of imagination there saddens me. If nothing else, the obsession with dotted eighths. Members Demented Avenger
:poke: In a way they do, by imposing their moral standards. They will ban you for speaking your honest opinion. Even if it's not offensive. I have received "infractions"for just asking simple questions that I had no idea would offend anyone. It's like getting whacked with the ruler. They run the site like they are perpetually afraid of being sued. There are some knowledgeable people over there that have helped me over the years, but the mods get a little carried away sometimes. Members Player99
oh, so you only like people who agree with you. got it. I just dislike the hidden agenda of bull{censored} fairytales and that in my face. I don't post things about the reality of no god and try to spread that word. In Canada the numbers of ministers, priests and religious clergy charged with child molestation and possession of kiddie-porn is staggering. Every day there is a new one caught. Members Seth Carmody
It's a good source of info, and the marketplace is better, but there's a real herd mentatilty on pedals over there. 1000s of options but everyone's always talking about the same few pedals. Members Player99
well played sal +1 Also watch the herd go for blood when you point out a flaw in one of their brown nosing pedal praising threads... Them: "I love Strymon and I would lick their unflushed factory toilet clean. They can do no wrong!"Me: "What about the Timeline having no preset naming; a timing glitch in the looper that makes it unusable; no global tap tempo; no delay trails when you turn off or switch patches?"Them: "Why are you hating?" "If you don't like it sell it." "You are stupid."Me: "You are stupid."Moderator: "BANNED."

Members JRBain
You mean the OP was banned when you named the builders? No; the OP was annoyed because I named the builders. Builders that TGP likes very much. No-one was banned. I've known threads to be deleted and/or locked for similar subject matter, though. The bias is nauseating; that TGP actually does keep $400+ OD builders in business does make me think sometimes that the builders are paying the mods to 'suppress' subversive content. Members Player99
I agree. I think if a poster at the GP talks about the flaws and a builder complains they look at your posts and use their rules out of context as an excuse to sensor or silence the dissident poster. So the infraction they claim you have made has nothing to do with the true reason for your ban or suspension. {censored} I hate the Gear Page. Members Eburst
I too, am a little bored with TGP. Please tell me that I didn't buy into bs hype when I got my Lava cables.I mean, they look nice and they sound great... but if 10 ppl over here tell me that Spectraflex's are just as good or better.. I might have to go start a couple offensive threads on TGP. Did I also get ripped off on my Turbo-Tuner? I mean.. Sonic says it's the most accurate... Obviously, you were using other leads and tuners, so what do you think? Did you get ripped off? Do you think the tuner is more accurate than a TU-2? I like the Polytune more than the TU-2, but not because it's more accurate, just because I can see the thing better under stage lighting. If it's better than what you had previously, then you didn't get ripped off. Are you happy with it? That's all that counts. On all these sites, there are those singing the praises of various pieces of equipment, but at the end of the day it's all bull{censored} because someone is recommending an item that works for them, not necessarily you. There are those who point out the various functions of a pedal and then inform us of how well it performs that function-this is what matters, not preference owing to nebulous concepts such as 'mojo' (I hate that BS) or individual tonal preference. I've done reviews myself and I know how hard it is to remain impartial in giving an assessment, but eventually the reader has to put in the research before buying. I hope you're enjoy your new leads and tuner. Btw, Lava cables are good and you can really hear the difference.

That said, I like Jazz III picks best among 'normal' varieties, and the Ultex ones blend into carpets beautifully.
