Members hangwire
I have 2 tort blanks, one is darker in person, much moreso than I could capture in pics. Almost a purplish brown hue. PIC 1: darker tort on top PIC 2: other way with darker tort underneath thoughts?

Phil O'Keefe
I like the lighter / redder one... but I agree that mint would look best of all.
Members Armchair Bronco
I think you should go for a white retro pickguard with those cool boomerang designs from the 1960's. Members BartDude
++++ on the mint green. I also tried tort on my CAR Jaguar and didn't like it. Mint plus aged plastic parts look great.

Members hangwire
so I am almost done with the pickguard. Just need to dremel sand the not straight lines here and there and smooth down a few parts that are touching the chrome bits. I am liking it. full 25.5" scale 50s style strat single coil in neck for the surfy dick dale parts Surf 90 for the Dearmond sounds which I dont have in a guitar and for something different [use neck pickup mainly] upper horn will have a series/parallel switch for both pickups 3 way pickup selector switch volume, tone knobs
Phil O'Keefe
Instead of a Dremel, wouldn't a longer sanding block and very fine paper be a better choice for straightening / evening off the long parts? I'm just asking - I'm no expert in cutting / shaping pickguards. Did you base the project on a Jag body, or a Jazz?

I might for those 2 longer straight parts on the upper side. the dremel drum sander is great for the curves though Jazz shape and bridge/tailpiece template placement
