Members donaldcrunk
lots of carefully veiled insults meant for every variety of forum member in this thread. seeing it consistently take the top spot makes me pretty sad. i've made so many good friends through this website that i could never in good conscience leave, but it looks like a lot of people consider anything not about 'music theory' or 'playing style' to be a waste of time. what the {censored} ever. Members madprof
Interesting that the PSB track uses the same chord sequence as Being Boring. PSB themselves state they quite like that chord sequence, and they use it a bit.

Talk about carefully veiled insults. I was only pointing out what people say and I'm not the only one that thinks so, that's why I said what I said. So if your comment is directed towards me too bad. Topics does not have to be about playing style or music theory because people love to talk gear, I get that. I only pointed out a different forum that serves the needs of some other musicians and a good portion of those guys jumped ship from over here years ago. Members ElectricPuppy
This forum is like any other forum out there: It's what its members make it. If you (whoever you are) don't post here because you think some aspect of music is over our heads or unappreciated, well, it's your loss. I think there's lots of brilliant people here with a variety of perspectives and experiences, and I'll bet there's little that could be discussed here that no one would have some insight or opinion on. Sheesh, what a navel-gazing thread. tl;dr: Don't see what you want to talk about being discussed already? Then fire-up a thread and start talking! And I really don't get the whole "zombie" and "twat" characterization, or for that matter, calling everyone "uncreative" or "conservative." The heavy criticism seems to be only coming from two or three people, so I wouldn't call it a majority opinion. I like coming here. I like talking about gear and electronic music in general, even answering basic gear questions for noobs. Maybe it's because answering questions for people eager to learn is one of my jobs in the real world (well, both of my jobs, actually). I also like the funny links in Hai Guyz, and I even have fun trying to decipher minimoog's posts as well. I've even laughed at the pseudo-rants of Swardle. And to top it off, the forum has good moderators who are fair and reasonable. So, to the few who have a problem, I'm not quite seeing what's not to like about the forum. Sure, we appear to be at a relative lull in traffic, but that'll pass. Just have fun and enjoy each other, and don't be so critical.
Members Buuzer
I don't post much because no one here likes me (and I don't blame anyone, because I know I'm a really messed up individual). But it's not my fault. I was raised by a very domineering mother who made me wear dresses until I was twelve years old. She never spoke to me about my father, except for the one time when she told me he had been killed in the war when I was just a baby (although, I've always been suspicious about the small plot in the lawn behind the house that I was warned never to play on).I'll never forget the day when I came home from school (beat up as usual by the other kids) and told my mother that I had met a girl that I really liked. She became so angry that she dragged me into the kitchen, made me kneel on the floor with my hands out, and hit me on the fingers with a metal spatula yelling, "Bad girl! Bad girl!"It wasn't until I ran away from home and became the second member of a traveling one man band that I started to realize that, just maybe, my mother had been wrong about a thing or two. I soon learned how to wear pants and act... no, BE a man. I discovered that the purpose of silky nickers wasn't to wear them, but to slip them off any woman who would let me (and I also learned that when a woman allowed me to slip off her nickers it wasn't because she wanted me to do her laundry). It's been a long and arduous medication/psychiatric treatment/alcohol filled journey to get to where I am today, but I feel I've made great strides in reshaping myself into a well adjusted, "normal" human being.Actually none of that's true. It was just something someone I was having an argument with told me on another forum. I know it has nothing to with music discussion, but technically, neither does this thread.Oh, and before I forget, "I still love you mother!" Members Ghostpaw
I haven't been here as long as most of you, and I'm surely in the "plays in the basement" category when it comes to musicianship and experience playing live. I'm okay with that. But I have been here during the period you guys are discussing. Usually the only times I see people speak out is when the threads take a political, religious, or porn direction. When were gig-friendly talks squashed? In addition to threads about gear I've seen threads about:Playing live Theory Photos of studios Synth History Legendary players Sound design Photography Electronics in general Music business Music gear business Cats & dogs (mostly cats) Music recommendations for different genres No idea how to categorize "HAI GUYZ!!!" And so on.There was a huge difference after the forums were screwed up a while back. The changes were horrible and the way it was initially handled ("No, it doesn't suck. Just be patient.") pissed off a lot of people who created new forum habits as a result. When was the huge exodus before that? I've seen a handful of people leave now and then (sometimes involuntarily) but nothing notable until the upgrade.

As it turns out, it's about as emo as it gets. What you apparently don't get is that for not being lobbed at anybody in particular, your insult was lobbed at everybody. It's a wholesale personal statement about people YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW. If you don't see the problem with that, then yeah, shame on you. It's just a {censored}ty thing to say. It reveals nothing about the members of this forum, and a lot about anybody who would go out of his way to say it. Which part of calling the entire forum a bunch of stifling, uncreative, jealous zombie twats was supposed to go over well? Members Caligvla
My rather light-hearted charges imo were NOT leveled at everyone ... I also subscribe to the theory that a forum is only as good as the people who post there and what they are contributing ... So if there's a problem with the forum, it's easy enough to trace back to at least some of the cause ... If you feel particularly stung by my metaphorical critique perhaps you should examine why it resonated ... Believe me, the name zoink was nowhere in my consciousness when I wrote that initial post ... Otherwise, "carrion on" ...
