I think he must've cleaned up some to look/sound as good as he does today. Pete Townsend drank like a fish until he cleaned up. Townes Van Zandt was an alcoholic mess. Hank Williams drank himself to death by liver failure at 27. That takes a lot of booze. Jeez- who are the straight edge guitar players who rip? Go down down London on a good night, and you'll find them either truely {censored}ed up in some random bar, or completely {censored}-faced in the street practising their stage moves.
