Ever since I heard him play "Crystal Ball" live I've been a fan. The solo was so heartfelt it was palpable. Freakin' awesome. That was 300 years ago.

JY's no slouch, but Tommy's got incredible feel, as you observed. :) His solo stuff is great, too ~ check out 7 Deadly Zens if you get a chance, from '97. :rawk:

I don't really think he's all that underrated... Isn't his badassedness pretty universally acknowledged?
:idk:

I thought it was, at least...
:D

Nah, a few of us know and appreciate who he is, but you can hardly argue that for the staggering level of awesomeness he and his band have provided over the years, neither have gotten anywhere close to the level of success and recognition they deserve!

When's the last time he was on the cover of or even mentioned significantly in any of the major guitar mags?

How the hell has Ty Tabor not yet been mentioned?!
:facepalm::mad:

Andy Timmons used to head the list, but he's finally getting up to the level of recognition he deserves, so...

A HUGE +1 to Criss Oliva, Mick Mars, John Sykes, Mike Campbell and John Christ.

Andy Wood (everywhere
except
HCAF, anyway!
:thu:
)

Steffen Schackinger

Jimmy Herring

Dweezil Zappa

Tommy Emmanuel

Eric Peterson

Chris DeGarmo

Mike Einziger

I'm sure I'll think of 20 more in the next 5 minutes...

Pretty much the list I was going to post. Jimmy Herring is definatley a stand out on my list, saw him last year with widespread panic and he was absolutely amazing :thu: I would love to see him and Warren on the same stage together :rawk:

Oh, yeah! Zebra was an amazing band, both instrumentally & vocally; it's too bad they only had 2-3 albums of good original tunes...

White Tiger: great band, until the Lead Dufus, um, singer would come on...

Hows about...

Dreamer

SSSteele

Rat Race Choir

John Christ-awesome blues/metal style

Mick Mars-I think has awesome tone and style

Bobby Gustafson-one of the best thrash players ever

Jeff Hanneman-WAY better soloist than King

Gary Busey-actually a good player/songwriter!

Mick Mars SUCKS.

Jeff Hanneman SUCKS.

For me, these guys are under the radar:

Andy Laroque

Glenn Drover

Gary Moore

Jeff Loomis

Criss Oliva (R.I.P.)
