Members tennisplayer
Two Small-Scale Guitar Manufacturers Bourgeois and Collings both have built great sounding dreagnought models in the market. Which one is your favorite dread? and why?
Members Pascal
I don't think I've ever seen a Bourgeois or a Collings in real life.

Members riffmeister
I've played numerous Collings dreads, only one Bourgeois dread, so I can't really offer an informed opinion. I liked the Collings more because they had more low end and shimmer on top. The Bourgeois was a bit more neutral/reserved.

Members DeepEnd
I don't think I've ever seen a Bourgeois or a Collings in real life. Seen a few Collings, a few Santa Cruz, one Gallagher and even a Mossman but AFAIK I've never even been in the same building with a Bourgeois. That said, I can't imagine how you could go wrong either way.

Members Bridgepin
I'm a Collings fan, I bought my D3H used from Mandolin Bros about 10 to 12 years ago. I played many guitars that day but the Collings is the one that I really fell for, there was a James Goodall there that was really sweet almost came home with that baby but the Collings won me out

Do you still keep it till now?
Members guitarist21
I've only ever played a Collings, but I'm going to have to go with Bourgeois since one of my favorite guitarists, Sean Watkins, is a fan.
Members Kap'n
Sean Watkins, is a fan. Sean plays an OMC However, Collings is also very nice. To me, it would depend on the two individual guitars.
Members guitarist21
Sean plays an OMC You are absolutely correct. Come to think of it, I've only ever seen a Collings OM as well, so I'm a pretty useless source of info here.
Members Kap'n
I'm pretty sure Ron Block and Dan Tyminski play Bourgeois dreads.

Members Guitar_stringer
Both Bill Collings, and Dana Bourgeois build excellent guitars. Get whichever one trips your trigger.

Members Chordchunker
Tough choice. I played a Collings at Mass Street Music that totally blew me away, and i`ve played a few others I really like, however the Bourgeois are really fine flatpicking guitars.. It would depend on the actual guitar I reckon.
Members Terry Allan Hall
Both are about equally nice, so it really comes down to the individual instrument. That being said, I wouldn't want either, just 'cause I'm a mahogany jumbo guy...for what either would likely cost, I'd just get a custom-built jumbo, built to my specifications! Yeah, I'm not much help on your question, am I, tennisplayer?
Members Do Fret It
Ricky Skaggs has a Bourgeois and Stevie Coyle has a Collings. Pantheon Guitars is just an hour south of here so......I'll take either. I sat in on a Dana Bourgeois seminar. He knows how to tap on wood. Wow. That was an interesting hour. He had a strong opinion about bolted on necks. He likes 'em.

Members guildfire
Haven't played either so didn't vote but friend of mine bought a Collings and swears its great so will go with that. For $3K plus it better sound good.
Members C70man
Didn't vote......not lucky enough to have played very many. We have a few Collins people here and those look and sound great. Personally, for flat pickin, I'd look at a Froggy Bottom too.
