Members Fred Fartboski
Has anyone had a chance to try the recently introduced "Inspired by 1964 Texan"? I think it's a great idea for Epiphone to reissue an original Epiphone acoustic in this price range($449). So far they've only been doing knockoffs of Gibson models. I wonder if they'll follow up with reissues other original Epi models? Although the Texan is far more famous than any of the other Epis. http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Epiphone-Inspired-by-1964-Texan-AcousticElectric-Guitar?sku=581880
Members C70man
That is sweet! The specs are fantastic. HOly Crap. And no, I haven't seen one...maybe I need to call my local GC today! I get to play a 64 Texan every once in a while...a great guitar. This new one is kinda like a full scale J45 with funky fret markers. Not a big fan of the way the markers look, nor the big "E", but that can go pretty easy. All solid top, mixed sides and solid back...uh oh... Members Fred Fartboski
Here's some more pics from the Epiphone forum:http://forums.epiphone.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=11306 Though not the best, they still give a better idea of what it really looks like than the stock MF pics. Members JerseyGuy
Looks very interesting. If you've seen Tom Rush in concert this is what he plays (the original, not the re-issue), only his is all beat up. But it sounds great.
Members knockwood
HOly Crap. This. Damn, that git looks hot. WTF is it with all these good gits coming without cases, though??? If you're going to sell a git without a case, fine, but at least frickin' give people a hint which case will work with it.

Members Galabar
That is a very nice looking guitar. It seems like a good alternative to the Masterbilts. However, I'd have to play one to get an idea how it compares.

Members Terry Allan Hall
How utterly cool!...An Epiphone Texan w/o the adjustable bridge (that robbed previous models of a lot of tone/volume, unless fixed)! Decent price point, too. Anticipating a bit of G.A.S., Fred?

Members Terry Allan Hall
I already have the GAS. How do you think I got my name? We'll just stand upwind until you get it, then! You know, the only difference between the original (American-made) Texan and a J-45/J-50 was the Epiphone neck and pickguard...there were rumors that the Gibson/Epiphone employees would set aside the nicer bodies to be Gibsons, but a retired Gibson employee told me that that's not the case, and I've seen several Texans that were every bit as nice as J-45/50s. Members DeepEnd
Glad to see they are bring this model back. McCartney played one as I recall back in the day. Wrote and played "Yesterday" on his. Truly an iconic guitar. Not a D28 but worthy of its own little page in musical history.

Members martinipm
I had a chance a few months ago to buy a '66 Texan at GC for $1399 in great condition. I didn't realize then what a deal that was. What an idiot!
