Members PBBPaul
We were posting simultaneously. He was truly one of the greats. His recordings with Joe Pass were also fantastic.

Members flemtone
This is a tragedy. His works have been so influential to me. I was listening to Satch and Josh (with Count Basie) just this past week. All respects to Oscar. In my opinion, the best of the best.
Members Tedster
Damn. But, to be fair, he wasn't a young guy. He spread a lot of happiness with his piano playing in his lifetime. Rest easy, Mr. Peterson.
Members EnemyofSilence
Very sad indeed. There are so very few of the giants left.
Members The dman
Oscar was always my favorite jazz pianist. I had the pleasure of seeing him,Ela Fitzgerald,Joe Pass and Nils Peterson (not sure of his name) at the Auditorium in Chicago about 25 years ago and it was inspiring. I loved the way he use to grunt when he played, you could feel it coming from his soul.

Members techristian
I remember seeing video of him in his late days. He had arthritis real bad but could still play in spite of the pain and stiffness. PHENOMENAL ! DAN
Members Anderton
FWIW, I got to meet him at his home in Toronto several years ago. He was totally gracious and cool, no attitude at all, and a great host. What I remember most was he smiled a lot when he talked It's always a wonderful thing when you find out that someone you respected turns out to be someone you can like, too. He was a total gentleman. But I must say...the loss of this kind of giant is cushioned somewhat by all the recorded works he left behind, just like Bob Moog lives on every time you adjust a synth envelope.
