Last NGD for a while..... Hag Super Swede

Hey,

Just got a visit from the Yellow and Red truck. I had bought an Epi LP custom with P90s, but it was terrible, so I got this instead;

Hagstrom Super Swede VS.

First impressions are quite favourable, though I think it came with .009s on it, which are a bit too slinky for my tastes. The neck is great, it has, as far as I can tell, a decent LP sort of sound, is heavy, but not as heavy as I thought, the sustain is great. It definitely, imo, smokes the Epis I've played. Just needs a bit of adjusting, and I think it will be a great axe.

In any case, this will be my last for a while, given that the proverbial sky is falling, and all that. Just doing my little bit to stimulate the economy.

Here's a couple of pics, one without flash, one with.

Cheers!

Glenn

Lolz....

Where's the Fashion Po-leeze when you need them? With a time machine?

The single coil tone sounds almost exactly unlike a Strat, but in a good way. I've read people describe it as P90-ish, but I have two guitars with P90s, and I have to disagree.

I didn't really have a lot of time to play it before and after posting, but did a little while ago. This guitar impresses me more the more I play it. Also, as I've read, it is a few little things, like a crooked screw, and the jack being a bit loose that seem to be wrong with it, though, obviously, no problem. I was thinking of a Viking, but I already have a Casino and an Artcore AS103NT. I was also thinking about a D2F, but opted for the Super Swede instead, this time. My next NGD is probably more than a year away now, but the D2F is certainly on my short list.

I'm really not that easily impressed, but I'd definitely have to recommend this guitar. My experience with Gibson/Epiphone has been less than great. I would've liked a nice LP, but I cannot, at all, justify

Congrats! I have that same guitar. Beats the Epi hands down. Enjoy. Nice thing about the hag is you're not thinking of a pickup change the first time you play it like you do on an Epi. I find the single coil sound Tele-ish, somewhat like my Tele Nashville on the 2-3-4. Happy NGD and TD!

But where's the booby love?????:wave:

Here's a pic with the pickguard off. I don't know why, but I really dislike raised pickguards. Gives my right hand claustrophobia, or something. I've taken them off my Artcore, my Casino, and now the Hagstrom.

Again, the more I play this guitar, the more I know for certain that it isn't going back to Thomann. I've had to fight some of the guitars I've gotten lately, to get them to play how I want them to; not the Hag, though.

Cheers,

Glenn
