  1. People don't give a {censored} about playing. Shopping and name calling is where it's at, hippie! That's why I stop by about once a month just to see if anything's changed. It hasn't.
  2. If you don't have to do it for a living then take a break from it. There's no point in doing something that doesn't make you happy and feeling like you're forcing yourself to do it only makes it worse. One of two things will happen; you'll either find something else that makes you happy or you'll miss it and you'll be reinvigorated. Neither of those is a bad situation.
  3. I think that if Hendrix were still alive that he would have killed a lot of his legacy after his disco album.
  4. e-bay's tough too. I had something up for auction last week and had about 20 watchers. Not one bid even though it had a lowball starting price. As soon as it was over I started getting the offers of "I'll give you $xxx.xx to ship it to Canada" or "will you take $xxx.xx since that's the price minus the e-Bay fees." Now I don't like paying e-Bay anymore than anyone else, but if you saw my listing through their service then I believe they are entitled to their cut. I ended up selling it locallly for less just to get rid of the damn thing. Plus the guy's a friend so you know I can't work a buddy over. But yes, it's rough out there right now.
  5. Would a commercial on TV make you get up and buy that particular guitar or pedal?
  6. This is a good point. His solos really aren't communicative. They don't bring any emotion to the table. They are pretty much just gonzo wankfests. His rhythm is much more important than his soloing though, and his rhythm is incredibly tasty. You know a few years ago them there would have been fighting words, but to be honest his solos are entertaining rather than really communicate anything, but I do think that they fit the song. I mean if you listen to a song and can't imagine a different part being played in there then it fits in my book. Plus even as an old man now I still look forward to him falling down the stairs and landing on his feet. But I have to agree with you 100% that his rhythm work is by FAR his best attribute. He swings like a mofo and to get that kind of stuff going on with that kind of groove is just something special. For me he's the most important and the best, but that's because he's my favorite if I was given a choice with a gun held to my head. But there is a whole list of guys out there that I love nearly as much. I also think that it comes down to age of the person being asked. I mean he was IT when I was coming up; I am sure that there are plenty of guys a bit older that felt the same way when Hendrix broke onto the scene, but by the time I was born to hear him he was kind of old hat. The excitement wasn't the same as with EVH for me. I'm pretty sure that there's a lot of young guys that look at some of the latest generation and think that they're just untouchable.
  7. How far out of tune are you talking here? One or two cents or horribly out of tune?
  8. he's actually a classically trained pianists, so musically he's probably MORE inclined than hendrix, beck, etc. I can't comment on this OLD post with anything more than my own limited understanding of these guy's musical upbringing, but I have a strong feeling that Ed was more of the type that would figure it out by ear than by using theory to apply it to learning any song, piano or guitar. Beck and Hendrix on the other hand had been gigging in a bunch of different bands for years before they broke it big on their own. Eddie basically jammed with Alex and they through Mike in the mix later. Mike complimented Ed who fed off of Alex's beats and the melody and everything basically came from him doing what he wanted. Roth through vocals over it. I'm just saying the Eddie plays what sounds right to him and has always done that. Beck and Hendrix would be more adept at jumping in on with anyone and getting into a groove by feeding off the others. Eddie isn't a follower, he's got to the be the lead IMHO.
  9. ATTENTION: THE LIST HAS BEEN MOVED OVER TO HC2.0 YOU CAN POST HERE, BUT IT WILL NOT BE ADDED TO THE LIST
  10. This thread probably isn't getting updated anymore. We are on the Good Trader List III in 2.0, and this one is way behind that one. Plus, I have my doubts that anything we do in the legacy forums will carry over. I'll update the first post in here directing them to the new list on HC2.0 and I'll ask Mazi to lock this one. Not sure what you want to do about the late additions on here, but this list is dead as far as I am concerned; it isn't going to carry over and will only lead to screwing up the latest version of the list.
  11. Since we haven't upgraded to HC 2.0, yet, can I add a +1 for SnoMan97? I'm not updating the list right now because it isn't going to carry over to the new forum. It's already confusing enough and if I start adding I won't know who made it or who didn't, this way I know that as of the last update anything after that can be added. Of course I originally thought that it would be a week or two and now it looks like it's dragging out.
  12. Wow, I never realized how expensive TATTOOING (don't want to offend anyone here) was. Kind of scares me off even more now. I don't have any for several reasons, but the main one is when I was younger I met an old dude in a barber shop. He was frickin 92 years old and cool as {censored}. He had one of those oldschool green Navy tattoos that was just stretched and worn all to {censored}. He said that it was the stupidest thing he had ever done and was tired of looking at it for the last 75 years. That made sense to me. So my biggest problem with getting a tattoo isn't that they aren't cool, but I have no idea what I would want drawn on my body for the rest of my life. Perhaps I lack conviction or something. Another reason (and I know that this is just a stupid story), but I had a female friend (extremely hot girl) who had one on her right breast that was the name of the love of her life. Of course they had broken up. Now I suppose that you could try to find another dude by that name, but his name was {censored}ing Melvin. Melvin....Jesus Christ, who the hell names their kid Melvin, who the hell dates someone named Melvin and who the hell gets that name ink'd on their boob? I never slept with her though...I like to imagine that it was because the tattoo turned me off, but it had more to do with the fact that she wasn't interested in me.
  13. Current as of 5:29PM 25Mar2010 I got everyone except for Snoman97's greatest hits list on the previous page. I'll add them once he verifies that they are all new good trades. Please do not post in this thread until we move to HC2.0 which should be this week. If things get put on hold again I'll edit this post. Just don't want to lose anyone on here.

    .

I've thought about this a lot in the past. I've got all kinds of equipment in the house that I've bought of the wife (she's the workout freak) and while I have used it in the past I've been plagued with a long standing back injury. I just got RF denervation done a few months ago and it's helped A LOT with the pain, but now I'm in horrible shape. I'm actually kind of scared of irritating my back now that I've actually gotten to where I can walk without a cane and sleep most of the night.....but being honest with myself I am lazy as hell and I get bored on machines. I know that I need to get back into shape, but the excuses are pretty easy to come up with, you know? This may actually be a great idea.
  15. I've been sick since last wednesday so I am probably just being a bit sensitive myself. Can't see the picture though....
  16. After all these years I finally figured out how to get a rise out of this place. You know, I have a Schecter Omen Extreme 7, 7-string guitar, with the same kind of "disgusting" cosmetics as Guitar #1 above - you know, quilted maple cap and mahogany body. I think it looks fine (heck even my 70 year old mother, thinks it looks good - as a matter of fact she thinks it looks great, and my old cadillac green Gretsch Country Club looked ugly!). It also plays and sounds like a million bucks, in spite of being "just a Schecter." Please don't word statements like those above - as though they are gospel truth. It is just your opinion. OK? I am sure that I hurt some feelings here (which wasn't the intent, believe it or not). I suppose that voicing my opinion on ESP/LTD's designs as being ugly is pretty offensive since it's apparently now a known fact that they are ugly. Because my opinion on the appearance of a guitar is a fact; that's just how I roll. You are giving me way too much credit here. How did you even come up with the theory that my opinion was stated as a fact? The only facts were the pictures and the configurations; if you like your guitar than rock the heck out of it and enjoy it. They're just not my cup of tea which is fine; I am sure that you wouldn't like all of my guitars. That doesn't hurt my feelings at all. If it makes you feel any better that design fits that finish a lot better than the an LP style LTD's.
  17. this ... ... is {censored}ing awsome I don't know about you but i've eard this was a LP, with seymour duncans and who said anything abou emg's ? ( it's Schecters, not schectors... and... a LP, not an LP) Note : this is NOT my guitar ! Read my post, I think that you mis-eard me (tip: if you break out your 4th grade spelling bee trophy; make sure that you spell your {censored} correctly). First off, I said ESP/LTD's, because I haven't seen any Edwards locally. They're both made by the same people and that's all I've had for comparison. And this is the ugly whore that I was talking about: Could that be any cheesier? They have a lot of other crappy finishes with EMG's in them. http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/ESP-LTD-Deluxe-EC1000-Electric-Guitar?sku=516629 They do have one that has SD's in it: And it's covered in that horrid multi-colored cheap {censored} binding. And as for my spelling of an LP; well that's just because I say L-P in my head when I type it. Thanks for paying a lot of attention to {censored} that really doesn't matter; I'm sure that I'll continue to do it for the foreseeable future. You got me on schecter; I guess that shows how much I think of them. And yes; that Edwards is pretty nice looking. Too bad they break too many trademarks/copyrights to be sold here in the states.
  18. Well, I've never played an Edwards because they don't have any around my area and I won't even consider buying an LTD or whatever the hell it is with that horribly gawdy finish. I mean what the hell is up with that? I don't understand the need for that ridiculous looking binding or the fascination with crappy quilt tops....or the desire for EMG's in everything. They look like they are built in the same factory as all the new Schectors which are popular for some strange reason as well. It isn't all about looks either, but I want an LP to sound like an LP and that's with some PAF style pickups. I wouldn't mind trying out an Edwards, but I refuse to buy one site unseen. There's just way too many fanboys of all kinds of flavor on this forum that talk out of their asses. It's almost as if someone doesn't like their guitar than they are less of a man or something.
  19. Bought this Sheraton a few months ago. Neck was split from the nut about 6 inches down the neck. You could pull it apart pretty easily (which made the repair easier to be honest). Before. After (still needs clearcoat; just waiting for the weather to warm up before I mess with it). Put some '57 Classics in it and she's a beast of a guitar.
  20. I suppose that this one could use bacon grease on the neck. Now I'm frickin hungry.
  21. Current as of 5:01PM 03Feb2010 Don't worry about the transition to HC2.0. Keep posting as normal, we'll be ready for the change over.
  22. Here's the thing though: no one here has any real facts about what happened. If it happened at all. All there was was a post on the internet. It could be 100% real, and it could be 100% bull{censored}, or anywhere in between. Regardless, there's no way for anyone here to know, so there's certainly no good reason to get involved with the whole thing and contact the guy's employer. That is as clear a case as possible of sticking your nose in where it doesn't belong. It's a lot easier to clear up a misunderstanding now than to let a story like this take fester into one of those 'known facts' and impacts the reputation of the store. {censored} like this can take on a life of it's own and last for years. You know the saying, out of ten happy customers one will tell a friend, one pissed off customer will tell ten people. And once again, if I was the owner of the store I would definitely want to know if someone was doing something to sully my reputation. If they did the act than I can correct it. If they didn't than I can get to the bottom of it and get the truth out there ASAP. Either way they are damaging their boss' livelihood as well as everyone who works there which to me is a lot more important than their jobs which they obviously don't appreciate nor deserve. In this day and age of GC, MF, Music123, Sweetwater and e-Bay we are losing a lot of competition out there because of poor management and non-competitive prices...it'd be a shame to see one go under because of a stupid joke by a jackass employee. Either way the second they put the store's name in the thread the owner has every right to be made aware. And if it was a joke then it's slander or liable which is just as bad. And if you think this is bull{censored} or overreacting; I have one question for you. If this was true, would you go out of your way to do business with these people? I mean if they are lying about items they are supposed to be buying, would you trust what they are selling or anything that came out of their mouths?
  23. I'll say this: the ethics of the original transaction notwithstanding, anybody that called or contacted the guy's employer about this is a bigger douchebag by several orders of magnitude. None of this is the business of anyone here. You don't mess with someone's employment. You know what; you'd almost have a point if it was a private conversation amongst friends, but once they posted where they worked on the internet and the details of the story the employer has every right to know what's going on with his company's name on the internet. And to be perfectly frank, these types of people are going to end up finding a way to get fired some other way. This just saves everyone some time and hopefully saves the owner's reputation. They deserve to be fired for about 4 different instances of stupid.
