      He had been dealing with liver cancer for at least a decade, so he fought the good fight.

      There's really no one else like him that I've ever heard, barring imitators. Had a unique musical vision and chops galore on a bunch of instruments and of course, that voice.


      How can 1991 be 23 years ago???

        I don't want to believe this. I can't even begin to express the effect the man and his music had on my life. He was, to me, the first bass player in rock music to blow past the supporting role of bass in rock and hurtle full force to the front, as equal to the guitar in moving the melody along. And my God could the man sing. I can't speak anymore about this right now...Will have to collect myself and thoughts a bit.

              Some of his best work of all time was with Robin Trower in "Seven Moons". I love that album. The link below is of a great concert performance. Miss you Jack.
