Members blue2blue
I actually find the post-post-rock stuff more interesting, myself, as well. But it's easy to understand how fans of the early stuff could have so much trouble making some of those bends in the road. The skit was fun, probably had more to say about the perils of the group than anything -- but it's a good point. I think I was lucky in that, in my formative years, I fell in with a loose social circle so contrarian in its basic dynamic that a sign of belonging was picking personal favorites that went against the grain of the group so hard as to be forced to continually defend them. Members Ernest Buckley
The Bends, OK Computer, and Kid A...three amazing albums in a row. Absolutely. When you listen to those 3 records back to back, its hard to believe its the same band but those records completely take you to another place and thats what music is all about. They lost me at Hail to the Thief though.
Members Markdude
The Bends, OK Computer, and In Rainbows would definitely be on my desert island list.
Members UstadKhanAli
They kinda lost me with Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief, but reeled me back in with In Rainbows somewhat.

I never heard In Rainbows but will check it out. This thread is taking me back to the first time I heard The Bends. I remember thinking how forward thinking the band was. To me it was a classic record with huge anthems on it and a sound I never heard before. Very exciting.

Members UstadKhanAli
The Bends was the first really great album they did, in my opinion. In Rainbows has some decent stuff on it. Not amazing, in my opinion, but is, in my opinion, better than Amnesiac or Hail To The Thief. It's difficult to compare Radiohead albums when they had three brilliant albums in a row. I guess we expect that we'll keep liking the ones after that just as much.

My personal favorite is probably a lot of others: OK Computer. As an aside, have you ever heard the dub version of this by the Dub Star All Stars? Members Coaster
i dunno. its funny, but it has a clear message: believe what we believe or get out. kinda like the idiot who broke his toys and then stood up in front of the world and said you're either with us or against us and set the progress of humanity back thousands (or hundreds) of years. but kind of amusing i guess. oh and the bends suck. all hail ok computer.
