  1. Hey, you did a great job on that. Time and attention to detail always pays off.
  2. It looks pretty good the way it is,just add a 'burst to hide the edges and you've got the vintage mojo look.
  3. The J Mascis Jazzmaster is on my wish list
  4. I'm sure most of you already know this but here's some serial number info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squier#Serial_number_tracing Example CY09 was made in China - Yako (Taiwan) in 2009 I was very impressed with the set up on mine. It just needed tuned. In fact the neck felt so good that I was afraid to touch it. Eventually I did have to adjust the saddles . Someone here suggested going to .010' strings and that does stabilize the saddles in addition to giving better tone
  5. Hey you're image is gone,at least on my computer. Out of curiosity I checked the serial number on mine It's CYO9 . A later model but I love it.
  6. I like the SFG alot. Nice work
  7. The neck on my Affinity Tele always looked too white . So last year I gave the guitar a good cleaning and used a little bit of a product called "Orange Glow " on the neck. It gave the finish more of an amber tint which I like but somehow it also seemed to react with the sweat from my fingers and create age spots on the neck, which I also like. ( I know someone wil say blah, blah ,blah make the frets harder to remove blah, blah blah. But think about it the guitar cost about $180 new,who would even bother with a refret. Just buy another one ) Anyway,.I like the result and gave it another wipe this time Take a look .
  8. You can buy indvidual strings but that may be doing things the hard way. If you go to this site they have a filter to choose strings by gauge. You may get lucky and find a set that already has what you want.. http://www.stringsandbeyond.com/elguitstrin.html
  9. So a 3 prong plug is the only way to go and removing the "death cap " without going to a 3 prong plug seems like a very bad idea What about the idea of touching your guitar to the mic stand to make sure the polarity is the right? Will this blow something out if it's reveresed?
  10. It was actually guitarcapo's comment about getting rid of the death cap that got me wondering about the whole issue.I really don't know what the truth is about death caps
  11. I completely agree that a 3 prong cord is the answer, but are you saying the "death cap " is actually a safety cap and should not be removed ? I'll admit this is somewhat over my head
  12. One thing I know is that if I put the old two prong plug in the wrong way I got zapped if I touched a ground while playing.Reversing the AC field can make a difference in hum for some reason
  13. [video=youtube_share;MMTN3B-zClo] he also did one on the shock hazzards of electric guitars I found them both entertaining
  14. Several guitars have come and gone and I have a new favorite from time to time but I always go back to that Tele. Maybe because it was the least expensive one so i was not afraid to mod it my way, that and the fact that it always played good.
  15. Sure , I'm in. I'm just too lazy to take a new pic.
  16. A beer would be pretty good with my Tater Tots
  17. My records don't get out much these days but I love to listen when time permits. The boxes stored above the records are filled with cassettes ,remember those? The turntables are on a floating shelf mounted directly to the wall studs to reduce the transfer of vibration from the speakers.
  18. Not sure about the body contours but this is what I would look at
  19. When I got a Telecaster. Before that it was hollow or semi only.
