My first time on stage with a band... 1989 I'm playing bass and singing on this cover of Jethro Tull's "Hymn 43" Sorry for the distorted sound - the video camera mic just couldn't handle the SPL. I was 11 and it was 1970. We had 2 Teisco guitars plugged into a Baldwin Electric Accordion amp with the swimmyest spring reverb you've ever heard. And a blue sparkle cheapo drumkit. Wipe Out. As I worked my little fingers into a surf guitar frenzy playing the main riff, the other guy playing "chinks" per my instruction (control freak back then too), we were stars. The whole auditorium just watched us. Even the cool/pretty girls. They were watching me? Then Ruben did the drum solo. And all the girls shouted "Ruben, Ruben!!!". They kept shouting Ruben, Ruben during the big round of applause. That's when I figured I better learn to sing too... But no video. How cool would that be to watch... Damn you Ruben!!!
