Members dimibetan
Locking Nut vs Locking Tuners (with graphite nut) Do they have the same stability as for keeping the strings in tune or not? What can you say about the two? Members webwarmiller
Simple, a locking nut will hold tune better. You just have to make sure the bridge has fine tuners. My next partscaster will have a locking nut and a kahler 7330 hardtail bridge that has fine tuners. I can't imagine any setup being more stable. Members scolfax
FWIW, I've never seen a guitar with a Floyd-type bridge and locking tuners instead of a locking nut.
Members Blackhell
FWIW, I've never seen a guitar with a Floyd-type bridge and locking tuners instead of a locking nut. I've seen Kahlers with no locking nut. Gibson.... locking nut for the win.
Members Mister Zero
carvin is big on the floyd/locking tuner setup. a locking nut is optional, not standard, with their floyded guitars.
Members Belva
Locking tuners WILL NOT increase tuning stability if you know how to wrap your strings. That said, I love my PW auto trims.
Members The Rossness
FWIW, I've never seen a guitar with a Floyd-type bridge and locking tuners instead of a locking nut. Carvin does that sometimes I just put Schaller Locking tuners on my Charvel Star and it drastically helps with keeping the guitar in tune, but its not perfect. a double locking system is what you really need. If you have gibson style tail peice you can get a stets bar and will not need locking tuners. If you have a strat bridge, your better off getting a trem king tremolo. Members JTEES4
I would think a locking nut is the most stable, pain in the neck sometimes...but most stable. Locking tuners can work very well too though.
Members bryvincent
i think the locking nut is more stable but locking tuners works well too with a roller nut. FWIW, I've never seen a guitar with a Floyd-type bridge and locking tuners instead of a locking nut. not an OFR, but the Fender Strat Plus Deluxe had a Fender-Floyd locking bridge(basically a Floyd with no fine tuners), LSR roller nut and Schaller locking tuners.
