Age:

I'll be 39 tomorrow.

Genre(s):

I'm primarily a Blues guy, but I also play a lot of Stoner/Southern stuff

Equipment:

For Blues it's pretty straightforward. A FSR Fender Deluxe Ash Strat with Fralin Hot Vintage pickus wired with a master volume, tone, and blender pot or an LTD PB500 with Duncan Alnico Pro II pickups. These run into a Fulltone Deja Vibe 2, Vox wah, and a Boss SD-1 and/or OCD. From there into a Peavey Valve King 1x12 combo with NOS preamp tubes and a Celstion Vintage 30.

For other stuff I use an LTD EC1000 (or the PB500). I use the above effects but add a Swollen Pickle Mk II fuzz to the chain into a Bugera 333 head (replaced preamp tubes with NOS and changed the drive channel to a 12AT7 and lead to a 12AU7 to tame the gain) into a Palomino 2x12 cab with Celestion 70/80s.

Other:

When the mood strikes me I replace any of the above guitars with some of my others: Fender 60th Anniversary Strat with Tex-Mex pickups, Squier Classic Vibe 60s Strat (stock), Squier Tele Custom (stock), '95 MIK Squier Strat with GFS Premium Alnico pickups, Fender Powehouse Strat with 12dB mid boost. All Strats have been wired for tone on the bridge unless wired for a blender pot.

For amps, I also own a Marshall haze 40 (which would see more use if it didn't always break), Bugera 6260 with NOS preamp tubes, Fender Super Champ XD and Vibro Champ XD, Epiphone Blues Custom 30, Epiphone Valve Special.

I use either a POD XT Live or a DigiTech RP1000 for recording.

Who do I think I am?

I've been playing guitars, mostly Fenders, since I was 13. In that time I have learned a lot fo what not to do by making many mistakes. I respect the skill of guys that play shred, but that's not me. I think I'm a pretty good player, but I am always seeking to improve. As long as I can communicate what I want with emotion and fit well both within the context of the song (even if what I'm playing is off the beaten path - I love to experiment) and the mix I feel I have done well.

About to turn 38 -- started playing when I was 35.

My gear? '08 LP Standard and a MIM Tele (heavily modified) into an 18-watt Marshall clone I built and a '68 SF Champ.

I also have a Fender hybrid bass and a Taylor acoustic.

I've used and built more pedals to last a touring musician a lifetime. However, the go-to pedal (and longest-standing on on the board) is the Skreddy Screwdriver.

I enjoy playing hard rock -- Zep, Sabbath, AC/DC, Wolfmother -- and grunge -- Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Neil Young -- but I also get into doom from time to time -- Electric Wizard, Sons of Otis, Ancestors, etc.

I'd like to think I'm a good player given I only recently started and I'm entirely self-taught.

I also make drunken Friday-night videos for the omg crew. :D:rawk:

Here was the latest: bits of Song X (Neil Young and Pearl Jam) > Barracuda > Immigrant Song > Hey Hey, My My

In the end, it's all about having fun. I try not to be too hard on myself. I am thinking about starting some sort of a cover band, even to get together with some other guys to jam with.

age.. 1-100

what do i like to play.. i like to try all forms.. thats the kick for me.. jumping one style to another.. so jazz, blues, rock, reggae Avant Guard stuff, anything i can get my mind around really.. cept for metal.. not my bag..

gear> various cheap guitars.. thats a nother thing i dig is taking a 100 buck guitar and getting nice tone from it.. none of my guitars cost more then 200 bucks and i kinda dig that.. amps i use a POD xt.. and guitar rig 4 all cyber..

i dont own a real amp.. and dont miss it really..

How long playing i played for-- a few years ,years ago in a 3 chord punk band.. complete crap.. never got the feel for it.. then got rid of all my gear and bought a cheap acoustic and stayed with that just learning dylan and young and those kinda things.. just getting back to basics

came back to the electric guitar last year.. so 1 year for electric for all intense and purposes..

i consider my self happy with my playing... im just as hack as every one else but i do understand rhythm and syncopation and crafting interesting sounding ideas... always trying to improve.. and try new sounding things..

influences-- too many to mention.

now im starting to get into video kinda things so thats fun.. here is my latest effort..

33, Been playing for about 20 years. I'm either playing a MIM Fender strat, early 90's Korean Epi LP, USA Fender Strat Plus or an Ibanez RGT40DX into an Egnater Rebel 30 or a Fender Blues Jr. Effects are left pretty simple. An Ibanex TS9 tubecreamer and an Original Vox crybaby wah. Mostly play blues and classic rock, but I do love me some 80's thrash a la Metallica or old Megadeth. Thats about it. Haven't played in a band since I was 21, so I've been rocking my basement and melting my face in private for the past decade or so. I think I'm pretty good at this point but the better I get, the more apparent my weak areas are. There's always something new to practice. I still daydream about paying out live again but between work, wife, and my daughter, I'm lucky to get my 45 mins of practice in every day. Can't complain - next to my family, playing guitar is one of the few selfish joys in my life. I can't imagine my life without a guitar a few steps away.

24, playing 10 years.

Main gear:

Suhr Standard

Mesa Boogie F30 and soon Mark III

Fuchs Lucky 7

Avatar 2x12

16-17 cork sniffer pedals (1 of each type deal, with the exception of fuzz/distortion)

I play rock, hard rock, classic rock. Been getting into metal lately. A touch of blues-ish but not really.

I'd say I'm average in the general scheme of things, but probably below average for my experience level/ years playing. Working on fixing that!

stlye blues

how well you can feel you can play. I have played 2-3 years, but practice maybe 20 minutes a day. Started with group classes, now private. Trying to work up the courage to play at a blues jam. One friend of equal ability offered to meet with me a jam. Figuring out how that is going to work.

23, gear in my sig. I tend to favor clean sounds and smooth, singing overdrive tones.

I play a mix of blues/jazz/funk/rock. Grew up playing in some rock/pop bands in high school and college as well as the college jazz big band and a jazz quartet. Now I just play at home, I do work on learning some new songs bit I spend most of my time noodling and coming up with melodies, progressions, etc as well as improvising over songs.

I think I have a good set of improvisational tools in a jam setting, chops are okay - no shred but competent to execute most of my ideas cleanly. Growing chord vocabulary but as a jazz player I'm definitely beginner intermediate. I need to add more bebop licks and phrasing and would also like to do more acoustic fingerstyle and learn some country lead playing (paisley etc).

I think I am a solid player who can sound good in most situations and be creative, but there are many far better players out there. Just trying to steadily improv, get good sounds, and have fun!

I'm 30 (will be 31 in 5 days), started playing when I was 16, gear is in my sig (plus a Martin D-16RGT and Taylor GA3...while those are currently mine and I do play them regularly, they will be handed down to my kids when they are of age to have kids of their own so I don't include them in my sig. They were made in the years that my kids were born so I think it will be a very cool thing for them to have).

I play rock/alternative/blues, and I'm a mix of covers and original stuff.

I'm an at-home player for electric, though I do play out on acoustic.

With all that said, I have gone through the gamut of low to high(er) end stuff ($100 to $1200 guitars both acoustic and electric, $30 to $160 pedals, $100 to $800 amps) and find that what I have is the best bang for the buck while allowing me to greatly enjoy the sound and playability of my gear. Would I love to have all $1000+ guitars/amps/etc.? Sure. Do I really need them? No.

36. Playing since I was about 9 with a period of about 10 years where I only played nylon string.

I have a variety of equipment, but I'm mostly a strat guy with low output pickups into a Fender or a Vox amp, fairly clean but not crystal clean. Edge of breakup type stuff. My main rig is an 83 Japanese JV series Squier that'd been tricked out a bit into a 5E3 Tweed Deluxe clone with a Holy Grail and sometimes a little but of boost from an OCD.

Style? I ain't got no style. I started playing classical, then got into surf. Then was into 70s harder rock (Frehley, Mick Ronson, Frampton), then into intelligent metal (Maiden, Rhoads, Malmsteens first album). I definitely dig on the layered, textural stuff... Andy Summers, The Edge, Johnny Marr, Porl Thompson/Robert Smith. I was in jazz band for a couple years but I'd call myself 'jazzy' and not 'jazz'. Only paying gigs I've ever played were punk though I was definitely a metal guy playing punk. Never listened to much blues, but I guess that's the direction I'm headed... slowly.

So I guess I'm basically a punky textural melodic metal guy that started in classical and surf with slight jazz and blues influences.

:idk:

I'm playing rhytm guitar in a 5 piece doing 60s/70s brit pop.

Playing a tobacco burst parts-o-caster tele, with a lil 57 on the bridge, through a 5W class a tube & a 2X12 set of celestion 90 W black shadows...probably not my best choice in speakers for this rig, but it's what I've got at this time.

I've got a epi dot studio I'm going to try in the band, but not untill I get the set of P90's that I've been talking to Bryan about.

I'm a song writer, & my own stuff I'm working up acoustic on my archtop.

This material I'm doing in a "dirty blues/road house" type format.

Oh...I'm 62.

Age 50ish

Equipment see sig

Style I like a lot of different music though to be able to play it is another matter. I don't care all that much for country though I would love to be able to chicken pick and I don't have a big enough music brain for jazz

How well do I play...not well at all. Threads like these can be depressing (the I've played for 3 year people and they are so much better than me). It's hard having 0 musical or creative talent. What I can do I have worked very very hard to get and still I'm way behind. I played acoustic for about 20 years but only cowboy chords with no lessons. I got my first electric about 5 years ago and started taking lessons. About 2 years ago I met my current teacher and that has been the biggest improvement as I now feel confident enough to post some sticky jams at least :thu: A year ago I started playing with 2 other (drummer and bass) and that has been a lot of fun.

Despite all the great players that say they are average to poor :poke: I found this very encouraging

I'm a 62 year old classic rocker. I started in early to mid 50s and playing in bars in the mid 60s. People still give me money, pat me on the back and tell me how much they enjoyed the show. That's good enough for me.

I've never played live and not sure I can because I make way too many mistakes. But it is a bucket list thing to do...if the drummer plays loud enough maybe no one will notice

Lol. I'm sorry, I think I just read that funny.

Does this mean you have modded it so that you can engage it in intercourse?

Is he the guy who was asking about drilling a one inch hole in the back of his guitar a few months back?

50, playing since age 14, mostly classic rock, but side trips into country, fusion, and singer/songwriter stuff.

Guits: Les Paul Heritage Standard 80, Les Paul Special TV 1958, ES345 1966, Rosewood Telecaster 1970-71, Highway One P-Bass, Martin D35, Takamine G535, Yamaha Pacifica 904, a couple of Yammie lammy acoustics, beltone POS from the 60's.

Amps: Blackface Showman, Bandmaster, Deluxe, and Bassman amps, Mesa Studio .22, Yamaha T50, Brownface 2 x 10 Super Amp. Gibson GA6 Discoverer.

I'm a fairly good player, no shreddies (can't work with that skill set), good ear for tone, listen to the singer so I don't step on the vocals. I get a lot of callbacks for that.

I'm 42 i play a combination of Rock n Roll,Contemporary Blues,Electric Blues and blues based Rock

I make my living as a full time musician..I play in a traveling band that plays county Fairs/Carnivals, motorcycle and car shows and rallys..We also do Casino shows and are looking for a Casino contract...I also buy and sell music equipment for side income and have a few students that i teach also..On top of this i also do some studio work for radio commercials or what ever i'm required to do..

My skill level as a guitar player would be best summed up as professionally solid...I am not a flashy or a tremendous lead player..I play rhythm guitar with the main duty to my band being Vocals and rhythm guitar...I'm known far more for my vocal skills than my guitar playing...I practice at least 4 hours a day except when i get players block and then i will shut down for a week at a time without playing...

My main stage rig is a very customized MIM Strat with John Suhr pups in it..Then a Strat ultra,Epiphone 335,Vintage MIJ Les Paul copy...

My effects board is fairly simple Boss tu-2 tuner,EHX Soul Preacher,EHX nano chorus,Russian big muff,Dunlop Jimi Hendrix system 2 classic fuzz(this pedal is more of an overdrive than fuzz),Monte Allums modded DS-1,Damage control liquid blues(This is a badass overdrive by the way),Holy Grail reverb and last but not least a Dunlop vintage Crybaby..

My amps are either a set of Blues Jr's miked or if we are playing a heavier set list a Marshall JCM 800 with twin 1960 cabs to complete the stack

turned 38 three weeks ago

play an old beat up gibson lp for electric though i have a few different guits(mostly cheap or just beat to hell or projected)

amp is a H&K switchblade 100 watt combo

i would describe my style as generic bluesy hard/heavy rock for my own stuff and as far covers its any thing from OLD country to metal

ability wise i have been playing since i was a teen and my leads still sound like a couple frogs anally raping each other...so that should tell you enough on that

i dont play out any more....mostly jam with freinds

actually most of my playing anymore involves setting out on the back patio with family and freinds having a few beers, playing any song we can remember the words to while watching the kids have fun ....i'm a happy man:thu:

Very cool! I just got a Digi 003..Baimun was looking at the Eleven Rack and had heard bad things about it

Are you just recording with it or using it on gigs, too?

cool!

Feature wise I don't think it does anything all that different from some of the other nice modelers. The big thing for me is the way it responds and the way it records.

I've used a few other modelers and truth be told I can get some decent recordings from them but I do have to make certain adjustments to my technique. The end results are usually good enough that most people will never notice I had to compensate but in fact I cannot play them the same as I would a live rig. It probably says more about my technique than it does the modeler but nonetheless, it's my technique. For example, I'm one of those guys that really hates to see an engineer stick a mic right against the cabinet grill because I know my chops don't really favor that method.

With the 11r I can just rip like I would at a gig. The playback sounds just as it did when I was tracking. This thing sounds basically like a live tube rig. Even cleans up like a tube rig. For guys that can get good results with a Pod they'll probably not be interested in this. For guys though that need to pull back a little for most modelers, they'll love this. No pulling back, just cut loose and start ripping!

I'm not using it for gigs because our monitors are basically nonexistant. If we had decent monitors though, the 11r is what I'd be using. I could play through the Sodano patch all night with no problem. Would be so easy to just show up with a gigbag filled with a couple guitars and the 11r!

Here's a couple of clips...
