Members ten56gibby Posted March 4, 2010 Members Posted March 4, 2010 Went in to the kickass little bitty local shop looking for a little tube amp to just put a multi-effects in front of to have some fun. Looking for portable awesome. Plugged into the Vibro Champ XD... found it $199. Now I just gotta get off work and get this thing home! Pics and perhaps clips to come later
Members Slave2TheAudio Posted March 4, 2010 Members Posted March 4, 2010 Congrats! I expect pics AND clips tonight :poke:
Members ten56gibby Posted March 4, 2010 Author Members Posted March 4, 2010 Maybe. Was leaning toward some good MW2 action tonight, which I didn't think would bother you
Members DaveGrima Posted March 4, 2010 Members Posted March 4, 2010 Good Choice. I got one a few moths ago and am pretty happy with it. I replaced the stock speaker with a Weber ALnico and put a JJ preamp tube in although it sounded good stock it was a cheap upgrade. .and now it sounds even better. for $200 bedroom amp this thing kicks ass IMO.
Members mortkort Posted March 4, 2010 Members Posted March 4, 2010 those sound really good. almost bought one once. if it had a separate clean channel like the sc xd it would be perfect. hnad
Members ExiledCrow Posted March 4, 2010 Members Posted March 4, 2010 I'm really tempted by those but I already have a GDEC-Jr and the Blackstar so it seems kinda dumb to get ANOTHER small amp.
Members mrbrown49 Posted March 4, 2010 Members Posted March 4, 2010 Congrats Gibby! I'm really tempted by those but I already have a GDEC-Jr and the Blackstar so it seems kinda dumb to get ANOTHER small amp. IMO it's better to have more amps than guitars. I bet that champ does something your others don't. Go for it.
Members Slave2TheAudio Posted March 4, 2010 Members Posted March 4, 2010 Maybe. Was leaning toward some good MW2 action tonight, which I didn't think would bother you I'm down. Just throw me a text brotha!
Members cratz2 Posted March 4, 2010 Members Posted March 4, 2010 My DA5 covers all my itty bitty amp needs, but if I didn't have it and wanted something a little bigger, the Vibro Champ XD would be at the very top of my list. I wonder if there's enough room on the baffle and clearance to squeeze a 10" speaker in there.
Members ExiledCrow Posted March 4, 2010 Members Posted March 4, 2010 IMO it's better to have more amps than guitars. I bet that champ does something your others don't. Go for it. IMO too, just a bit harder to convince my wife ...
Members Vintage55 Posted March 4, 2010 Members Posted March 4, 2010 Congrats! I've been thinking of a really small amp lately...
Members ten56gibby Posted March 4, 2010 Author Members Posted March 4, 2010 I'll check and see it would be at all possible for a 10" in there, Cratz. I'm still not believing the value here. Low wattage tube power. Built in effects. And I'm probably a lot more excited about the 4 ohm speaker out on this than I should be.
Members Elias Graves Posted March 4, 2010 Members Posted March 4, 2010 Sweet. Happy new champ day. EG
Members ettsn Posted March 4, 2010 Members Posted March 4, 2010 I have one of those too. Fun little amp! Enjoy yours in good health.
Members Slave2TheAudio Posted March 4, 2010 Members Posted March 4, 2010 Awesome man, HNAD! You would get a NAD before me!
Members ten56gibby Posted March 4, 2010 Author Members Posted March 4, 2010 Awesome man, HNAD! You would get a NAD before me! Thanks, man! But yours is gonna put mine to SHAME.
Members BeanoBoy Posted March 5, 2010 Members Posted March 5, 2010 Congrats! I dig my Vibro Champ as well. Sure, the Super Champ is more amp, but I didn't need 15 watts. For playing while the TV's on or recording in my home studio, the Vibro Champ is really cool. Great price too!
Members Slave2TheAudio Posted March 5, 2010 Members Posted March 5, 2010 The only way it will be better is that I will include pics AND video
Members ten56gibby Posted March 5, 2010 Author Members Posted March 5, 2010 I'm probably gonna have to make a video of this thing. I'm very surprised w how good it sounds. ESPECIALLY through the Marshall 412 cab Of course one would have to A/B between the two in said vidya.
Members roygbiv Posted March 5, 2010 Members Posted March 5, 2010 IMO it's better to have more amps than guitars. I bet that champ does something your others don't. Truer words never spoken. Well, at least for today on HCEG... Congrats on the new Champ, OP!
Members DaleH Posted March 5, 2010 Members Posted March 5, 2010 HNVCDThe line out is nice to have. I run my SC to my computer with it. I can also run the line out into another amp with that amp into my 1x12 cab. That way I still have the SC speaker working. That can really rock the house.
Members ten56gibby Posted March 5, 2010 Author Members Posted March 5, 2010 True that: more amps > more guitars = better. This is what's going on right now. Mason Tele 2 through Vibro Champ through 1960a with G12T-75s. Sounds good! (cellphone camera is all I got) THANKS for all the congrats, btw!!!
Members ten56gibby Posted March 6, 2010 Author Members Posted March 6, 2010 Thanks again, guys. Just finished recording all the guitar playing sections for the vidya
