Members Area Man
It's kind of a budget version of a Yamaha model from the 60s called an SGV 800. They also made an SGV 300. This one isn't either of those. And it's a reissue from the 90s I believe. This body style is also called the "Flying Samurai" but the original SGV300s and 800s (as well as the 90s reissues) had more Jazzmaster-like trem units and something more like P-90 pickups. And matching painted headstocks. This one, as you can see, has a Strat-style pup configuration and trem system and an unpainted headstock (just says "Yamaha" on it.) Man, that's cool....now I see what inspired the Iceman. Do you have more pics you can post?

Do you have more pics you can post?I've got quite a few pics of it, but only the one above and this one below on a photo sharing site...I will be putting it up for sale. Good guitar but I need money badly and it just doesn't get the play it deserves.

The lower edge and horn is actually identical to the top one on a Rickenbacker bass.. but flipped!

Members AzCat
Oh, I know for a FACT you have some stuff to contribute to this thread!Well, maybe one or two. The aluminum Roswell. Thought I'd be wise and wait until the original run was sold (it never did AFAIK) and pick one up when the prices went down ... except they never did. The Washburn EC-36 is pretty unusual. At first glance it doesn't look all that out of proportion but look more closely at the size of the cutaway and the relative length of the horns. Washburn did a nice job of styling it to draw your eye away from the odd dimensions. Not much needs to be said about this oddity; sometimes I want to say so little that I fail to admit actually owning it. Steve McSwain is responsible for this work of art. I note that he doesn't feature it on his web site but it's no worse than some that he does claim. Everyone tells me that the Gretsch meets Tele style of Roxies is odd. I'm particularly fond of this one:
Moderators The Eristic Posted June 18, 2009 Moderators Share Posted June 18, 2009 How about a guitar with a hole in it? http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f250/the_eristic/Gear/drp_bed1_small.jpg Or a Suntech, a neck-through high-end MIJ multi-lam body "strat" from the '80s: http://s48.photobucket.com/albums/f250/the_eristic/Gear/mystery/ Or maybe my basses: http://s48.photobucket.com/albums/f250/the_eristic/Gear/eshenbaugh/ http://s48.photobucket.com/albums/f250/the_eristic/Gear/hanewinckel/ Or a superstrat trying to be retro, but including a built-in sweepable filter circuit: http://image02.webshots.com/2/3/49/51/121834951ZdEsCc_fs.jpg Or an 11-string Oud/guitar acoustic-electric hybrid: http://image12.webshots.com/13/6/96/96/146069696jhvgIK_ph.jpg Might be able to snap pics of a few more, too, like the unbearably funky Guild S-300 or potentially Guild-made Stewart short scale: fully hollow, fully sealed, Franz single coil loaded, topped of with plenty of bakelite. Members dogtownmax
yeah, and if you can fix that upper fret access, that would be great too... very cool looking guitar as is, though. Here's a stock photo of one of mine. Seems to be universally hated but I am planning a few mods. I have a swingin' tailpiece for it and will be making a custom silver pickguard and matching truss rod cover for it:
