  1. I am kind of shocked that the reward is so low. Tom Petty has had some real {censored} luck over the years. Yes, he has. He was the victim of arson once as well. Lost his home and most of the possessions in it. This is just really low. Tom and Mike are pure class.
  2. Just another Junkie like I said who cares. Yeah, we sure wouldn't want to listen to any rock and roll made by people who ever did drugs. Lessee...that leaves Frank Zappa, Ted Nugent and Ian Anderson. Have fun with that. Rock on in your sober abandon!
  3. First time I ever saw him (and X) was in the 80's while watching The Decline of Western Civilization - been a fan ever since. That's a pretty cool documentary, though a lot of the people in it come off looking like complete tools.
  4. He's a killer player. His sound and style influenced me a lot..early X in general. He's probably part of the reason I'm such a Gretsch junkie.
  5. To be 17 again.... I have two kids and when I became a dad in 1998 I had to sell everything I had except an old beater acoustic and a couple of cheap ukuleles. And brother, I had a lot of gear. Anyway, so much comes before things like guitars when you have a family. I don't regret having my kids at all--no way! I just have very minimal gear that is mostly inexpensive but decent stuff. The good news for you, at least I think so, is that decent, inexpensive gear is easy to acquire these days. The past 10 years especially there has been an explosion of good MIK and MIC and Indonesian-made stuff that is well made. You don't have to own a Gibson or Martin or Fender to be a musician--even a serious, gigging musician. There are lots of cheaper options. Also, while the guitar has been responsible for getting me laid from time to time, it's a lot easier to get away and get alone with a lady if you have a car.
  6. My family is my Number One Thing. After that, though, it's music. Playing it, listening to it, talking about it. It is, to my mind, the greatest discovery/invention of humankind. It is nothing less than the ritual exorcism of suffering an sorrow. Music has saved my life more than once.
  7. Great deal with dcindc. Great deal with tufnel07. Thanks guys.
  8. ...and a big #1 for jamdogg. Fast and friendly--good peeps!
  9. I had a couple of cheapie junkers to begin with, then a Peavey T-60, then a '73 Telecaster. Of all the gear I've bought, traded and sold, that Tele is one of only two instruments I regret parting with. Best neck I ever felt on an electric guitar. It played and sounded better than a '65 Tele I also had.
  10. I still like it. From what I read, these can go from Tele to Les Paul in a split second. I would definitely take one.
  11. Yeah, Bragg is the ONLY person I've ever seen play one. I think it's pretty cool though...
  12. http://www.donmack.com/Images/products/Burns/steerL.jpg They aren't made anymore (probably because they aren't the prettiest things on the dance floor) but I've always been curious about them. I like the idea of a no-cutaway electric.
