Quilted maple that is dyed white....Is there such a thing?

it's be a bit pointless.

 

 

fact is, to get a top to shine, you dye it black and the softerwood absorbs the dye deeper, so when you sand back, it shows the grain better, then the clean wood is almost white anyway, so there aint much point

Agreed! I've lusted over a translucent white quited top for years, never found one that didn't either look grey or like the one above which is clear coat in the center and solid on the edges. If you find one, lemme know..

rather than just dye, you could prb achieve something similar to what you want with a heavily bleached maple w/ some white dye...look online for bleached maple pics

 

Edit: there are also other techs like liming that could get close to what you want.
