Members grumphh
Just found a nice pic of my old LP Deluxe and thought i wanted to share - fretboard gunk and all. Even though the red in these particular guitars doesn't fade i think it does look great - a nice rich red colour that goes together well with the yellowed middle with the laquer cracks. Imo. (And btw, this is a guitar that has a cracked neck (right around the headstock area) which in no way detracts from its tone or playability). For those with keen eyes: It has been refretted Follow this link for a huge pic to see all the gory detail of 40 year old laquer or just look at it here: Now show us your oooold guitars. . Members tweak'd
Refin or factory? And how old? The guitar is only about 6 years old and was refinished about 3 years ago. The cracked (checked) paint was part of the refinish job. Pickups have since been changed to a David Gilmour set.

Members keithcar
So, bout how long does it take modern gibson nitro lacquer to finally cure? My 2007 R7 still feels like the nitro is a bit tacky. Or is that due to the plasticizers they are using nowadays:idk: I having a feeling they are doing this to prevent checking. Regardless of the year of manufacture, they're just not the guitar for me.
