In my search for tone i have come down to two different tones for my fretless, vote on which one is best.

Tone 1: Michael Manring and his Zon Sonus, nice fretless mwha,

and

Tone 2: I don't remember the bassists name, but he is killing it on his Wishbass: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_u35sHICjE

Which tone should i go with? You decide!

This is the tone I've always tried to emulate:

love that sound :thu::thu::thu::thu:

Plus, you gotta stay for the solo trade off with Victor Wooten and the sax guy at 2:47. Wooten ends it with a tune that most bass players know :thu:

Awesome tone here!

To me, he's got a {censored}tonlode of bottom end here. Does he use an octivizer downward, or does he have that sixer strung deep?

He's using a bunch of effects. There's a ton of compression all the way through. And plenty of chorusing in the verses.

In the chorus of the song (starts around 1:14) he kicks in a synth-type effect: an octave down plus some square wave with a filter sweep on top. I'd guess he's using an EH Bass Micro-Synth pedal; I have one at home and you can definitely cop that tone with the EH pedal.
