I was in Couer d' alene this weekend and saw Pat playing a solo gig at a street fair. He sounded great. I only talked to him for a few minutes when he finished. He was playing later that night in the city park with his band but I was at a family re-union and couldn't make it. He has been busy and just released a second album "Dead little towns". He also is doing some event/concert promotions He has been busy and isn't sure if he will ever post here again. I also met Big JD recently and had breakfast with him when he was passing through my hometown. He is a nice guy and tried to help me with some mixing board problems i was having. Anyone else ever meet any forum members?

Cool..I was wondering where he was. It seems like there aren't many of us old timers around anymore. I don't know..I'm not doing covers for a living anymore and it's kinda a been there done that feeling much of the time and it doesn't feel like too many members are trying to do original music either. I wish there were a place where singer songwriters and original musicians could get together and talk shop but I haven't found a forum for that. I can see why Pat left though..He's totally cool and I wish him the best.;

Great guitarist and a great guy (I thought). I understand his 'fatigue' with this place. Discussions tend to go round and round in circles. My heart breaks everytime a music stand thread reaches 7+ pages, yet a thread on how to market or promote you band? They die on the vine. I've tried to make it down to see Jeff's band in PA and I'd like to take a road trip south to meet mstreck and dan88z. I'd also like to make it to Tahoe and meet Guido. I was there a few years ago but we couldn't connect.

As much as I debate and disagree with people here, I'm actually a really laid-back guy, and would enjoy some beers and good conversation all night- I was working on a tour schedule a couple of years ago and was astonished to find many people here and from other HC forums who were willing to feed us and put us up for a night along our tour routes! The tour got canceled because we couldn't agree on a lot of things, but it was really great to know we could have been helped along the way. HC is still the hands-down best forum out there.. no not forum.. community.

I'm looking forward to going to see both Jeffs and Mikes bands sooner than later!

...Would like to add several here to that list, but there's not that many posters in the (Deep) SE.

That's the truth! And I don't tell my current band(s) members the specifics of this site, because I have discussed THEM on occasion! ;)

I showed up at Jamie's gig when his band played a local club. While he was setting up I hollered out JAMIE BELL! That (and my wild-eyed, obviously tipsy appearance) got me a fierce WTF look so I said HARMONY CENTRAL and he caught on in a second or two. Jamie's bigger and more physically intimidating than you would think from his pics, especially when he is thinking he might have to whoop your *ss. And he knew how to work that Hammond XK3c/Leslie 3300 setup, fo' sho'! :thu:

Next likely "victim": Jason and the Tricky Dickies. Maybe a road trip to the MS coast, with my bud (he goes there occasionally to gamble) if they play the IP again.

I had the pleasure of meeting garryheier and his wife a few weeks ago at one of our OC gigs. Great guy (and gal)! He doesn't post on here much, but he knew who we were through HC and was kind enough to seek us out! :thu:

dan88z is just north of me and we were lucky enough to catch his band at one of their casino gigs. And he was unfortunate enough to catch us at one of the worst gigs that we ever had. There are some other local musicians that post - and mostly lurk - here (Marc B., Tom K., Harry B.) that I met/know completely removed from HC. All great people! From some of the posts I've read, I've figured out that there are some other locals here, too. But they tend to keep their identities to themselves, so I won't "out" them. They know who they are. :cop:

I've also seen pjrake's band Charetta a few times- they are all awesome people! He doesn't post on here much anymore, either, but we do keep in contact via facebook.

I'm in fairly constant contact with Grant, Jeff, Jason, and a few others on fb, too. Jason's from DE but I don't think he's ever up here. I drive through Keith and Jeff's areas every time I head home to PA, and Jeff spends a lot of time in DE, but we never seem to be in each other's area when the other has a show. Seeing how NIAB and Grant have had a very large influence on how my band operates, making it up to NY to see them is also at the top of my bucket list.

The rest of you, I'd just like to buy you a beer sometime. You've all been a great help to a guy who didn't even pick up a guitar until 10 years ago and probably never really had any business ever being in a band. :D

Would love to meet BlueStrat, as he is (was?) my favorite member here. I enjoyed his personality and respected his insights.

I was lucky enough to meet up with J.Paul a few weeks ago. Gwen Sebastian started their tour off in, of all places, the Greater Grand Forks Fair here. I didn't even have to pay for an extra ticket (it was included in the price of admission)! He is a great guy and fantastic musician. My wife and I enjoyed spending a good amount of time with him following the show (I think it was around 90 minutes). So far, he is the only member from here that I have met in person. I'd like to meet more if I can, even the ones I argue with. :D

Very cool, I was wondering where Pat had gone off to. I saw that he hadn't posted since May and figured he'd asked for another self-ban. Hope he returns at some point, I respected his point of view on lots of topics.

Did he leave for good? I did not know he stopped posting. Guess I am late to the conversation?

He banned himself for 3 months and told me on facebook he didn't know if he would come back or not. He said he was actually getting things done since he quit wasting time posting on here.:) I told him he hasn't missed much, we still argue about music stands and shorts.

Ran into Bish0p last year and we drank tequila and talked about iron maiden the whole night! m/

Some day I hope to see PH, NIAB, Episode 4 and some other bands from HC.

I better get my liver ready though.

Well we have both been here for years. Sometimes there is nothing more to talk about.

Senior Blues beat me to the punch, we met for lunch a month or so ago when he was visiting his son who lives not far from me. Nice guy and we had a great time talking shop. Next time we'll jam and I'll teach him Master Mode on his keyboard. :) Met mstreck a couple times, great guy as evidenced by his forum personality.

I've been trying to get out to see stratotastic's band, they have played a couple venues not far from me, but I was gigging too. Now next weekend they are doing a day gig that I can go to, and he won't be there!

I do a lot of motorcycle riding so a trip up north for a NIAB gig isn't out of the question. Just a matter of timing, maybe next summer we'll do our vacation ride up north.

This "self-ban" thing cracks me up...I've never heard of anyone doing that until I came here.

Give it time...my public school math tells me you are averaging 35-40 posts a day. You may need a break at some point.

A "self-ban" seems a little over the top to me, as well...I just step away from the computer when I need to. But Pat was always pretty open about having an addictive personality. He probably needed that extra little "wall" to keep him from spending too much time here.

I miss his insight, but I'm happy for him that he's too busy with music to stick around here.

Agreed! I'm going to school right now and I'm on the computer quite a bit. I can't help but checking in and posting ALL the fricken time.

I have yet to meet a musician that is really good (and Pat is really good) that doesn't have addictive tendency's. Music lends itself quite well to addictive personalities.

I'm hoping to check out Spitshine (MuthaGoose's band) before the year's over, but the nights he has gigs I see... so do I!

There's not a lot of New England posters on this board. Which is funny, since there are a bazillion bands... someday! I always love meeting up with folks and talking shop.
