Members garthman
Sorry for the late start. This month I'm posting a song that's several year's old. It was a collaboration (I think the first VOM collab) between myself and Samilyn. An Irish folk song called "The Maid of Coolmore". https://app.box.com/shared/cbzftqpqhp I recorded the song - vocals and guitar - and sent the recording to Samilyn who added some keyboard tracks. Good fun.
Members Idunno
I've never heard that before from you. Must have been some time ago. I didn't know you collaborated with Samilyn, either, or did and lost that memory as well. It's a great song, Howard. I'm out of the VOM1T festivities but I'll be listening so post what you got folks. Members Idunno
Well done, cats. Difficult song to get acoustically but it's sounding good.
Members extollo
delirious song in dgdgad tuning. stu g has an acoustic version with a bit of instruction so I gave it a shot. tough to keep the thumb going & sing some of the melody for sure. heard it/learned it an hour or so ago, so it's an approximation. Members Idunno
Watched for the thumb walk up the E and down the A in a loop. You had it down pretty well for the quick study you made of it before. A few minutes more and I'd imagine it will be confidently on your list. Thanks for participating again. Members Freeman Keller
Forumite CTGull has become kind of obsessed with FG series Yamahas from the 60's and 70's. I happen to own one an had a couple of songs on it in my archives. Here is the John Fahey tune Sunflower River Blues http://vom.infocusreviews.com/index.php?p=play&id=Freeman_Keller/Sunflower_River_Blues.mp3 And here is a Leo Kottke song, Tennesse Toad http://vom.infocusreviews.com/index.php?p=play&id=Freeman_Keller/TenneseeToad.mp3 Both songs are in open C - the strings are pretty slack so I got a lot of slide rattle. Oh well. CT, that Bud's for you.
Members DeepEnd
Sorry, nothing from me this time around. Maybe next month. Anyhoo, let's get to the folks who did contribute: garthman - Moody and evocative. The collaboration turned out nicely.catscurlyear - Another good job from you. Well played, well sung, and just enough of a personal touch.extollo - Once again, I'm impressed, with both the playing and the vocal, especially considering the practice time involved.Freeman - Always good to hear from you. Enjoyed both of those very much.
