Members garthman
Jingle all the way. I've had a hectic couple of weeks so haven't yet recorded anything. I will do my best over the weekend. Until then, let's have some stuff from those who have managed to get something done. Festive or otherwise - it matters not a jot. Members DeepEnd
As predicted, mine is a Christmas song, a semi-original called "The Ballad Of Jesus," to the tune of The MTA Song. A true one-take: http://yourlisten.com/DeepEnd/theballadofjesus.
Members Idunno
These things do sneak up. Painting my house at the moment (spelled a-l-l m-o-n-t-h) so whenever I have 2 seconds worth of time my wife puts a paint brush in my hand. Getting really good at cutting, too. I recorded this last week or so. Paul Simon's Homeward Bound. I might come back here and put up a more Christmas-y piece later. Been practicing the instrumental version of Oh Holy Night. Not quite there. It's kicking my butt. Gotta get to painting. On the Yamaha classical - https://app.box.com/s/6hmjqcxonecqe9mnp6u1z4wbqiu05hqw

Members garthman
Hey Cats. Tut. Everyone will be posting two songs now. This is what comes from voting Brexit. But I'm getting Dear Prudence (which is great BTW) whichever link I use.
Members garthman
Well if Cats can post two songs so can I. I seriously doubt that I'm going to find time to do new stuff so here are different versions of ones I've done before: "Make You Feel My Love" by Bob Dylan https://app.box.com/s/5hj0d84t2jvlihekc25qdhmxf2ahwicd Played on my nylon string dred. "O Men From The Fields" (From "A Cradle Song" a poem by Padraic Colum set to music by Arnold Cooke) https://app.box.com/s/c3mp4kvz56v2iagt8eimytmqqn5uypv1 Played on my lute guitar. Members Idunno
Cats, well done on both counts. John and Francisco would be pleased - and probably make for some interesting company, come to think of it. Good spin on Dear Prudence and kudos for staying with the score on Lagrima. That's another on my Bucket List.
Members Idunno
Howard, the Dylan song I remember but the other is new to me. I looked up the lyrics. It seems old - very old and perhaps the vintage of Greensleeves? Nice mind's eye on that one and you treated it well.

A true one-take: http://yourlisten.com/DeepEnd/theballadofjesus. I expected nothing less from you, Deep. Good writing and lofting onto a melody. Members Idunno
Okay, I took a stab at a recording and gave it my current best. I promise to put some polish on it but for now this one-take will at least give us the spirit of it. The thing about seasonal music is we tend to embrace it for the event but once past so goes the music. Not right. Members DeepEnd
Idunno - Homeward Bound was very well done. Paul would approve. O Holy Night was simply excellent, much better than I can play. catscurlyear - I hadn't heard Dear Prudence in ages. Fine job. I wasn't familiar with Lagrima but I listened to Francisco Tárrega's version and you did very well. garthman - I find To Make You Feel My Love very challenging and you did it very well with your own touch. I wasn't familiar with O Men from the Fields but you did a great job on that one too. I expected nothing less from you, Deep. Good writing and lofting onto a melody. This one should be shared outside the scope of this forum, no? Sadly, no. I wrote it five years ago with the intention of having it sung by a quartet from church. One of the members didn't care for it (she was never a fan of mine but she has a great voice) and it got shelved. I tried to resurrect it last year to no avail. Including Forum members, it's probably been heard by fewer than a dozen people. Maybe next year.
Members garthman
Thanks, both, for your kind words. Joe. It does sound old but it's not. It was written by Irish poet Padraic Colum around 1912 (but I suppose that does make it quite old LOL)
Members Gary Blanchard
Deep End - I love the reuse of a familiar tune for the retelling of a familiar story. Nice job. Idunno - Homeward Bound reminded me of Paul Simon's 1960s solo album; the guitar and vocal were great. O Holy Night blew me away. Catscurlyear - The guitar sounds on Dear Prudence were neat, and I liked that you made the vocals your own. Lagrima was very well played as well. Garthman - Make YOu Feel My Lovehad nice playing and vocals. Oh Men From the Fields is new to me, but is a great song and was nicely done. I videotaped two originals; one Christmas song and one Yule song, but the video is still rendering, so I'll post it later.
Members Gary Blanchard
Okay, here is a link to my video, soon to be live: It opens with Christmas Memories, and then leads to Celebrate the Yuletide, a Solstice song I wrote a couple of years ago.
